DESCRIPTION

The third-generation Chevrolet Silverado was offered with both 5.3L and 6.2L LS engines. These engines feature direct injection, which is great for creating an efficient burn and saving fuel but allows for carbon buildup on the intake valves.

As blow-by flows over the intake valves, oil and carbon deposits can build up, impeding airflow and eventually preventing the valves from closing. The best way to treat carbon buildup is to prevent it, and that's where this Mishimoto Chevrolet/GMC 1500 direct-fit catch can kit comes in.

This Mishimoto catch can kit diverts blow-by away from the intake and traps it in our catch can. Inside the can, a set of air turbulators and baffles separate fuel, oil, and water vapors from the crankcase gasses and collects them to be drained next time you change your oil. By not returning the blow-by to your oil pan, our kit prevents fouling of the oil that could reduce its effectiveness, leading to accelerated engine wear. Finally, a sintered bronze filter removes any remaining carbon from the crankcase gases so that only clean air returns to your intake.

The Mishimoto Chevrolet/GMC 1500 catch can kit is a complete bolt-on blow-by solution and includes all necessary components for a hassle-free installation. As with all our products, this kit includes our signature Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

What is the PCV system problem? (Oil Ingestion)
The PCV System vents crankcase pressure through your intake track and a lot of oil in the form of vapors get sucked through the air creating a pool of oil in your intake tube. Even worse is it leaves a coating in the intake runners and dilutes your gas, this lowers your octane and kills combustion chamber efficiency. This is common with all engines and is even more severe with forced inducted vehicles (supercharged and turbocharged) with increased cylinder/crankcase pressures.

To effectively control oil from being sucked through the PCV system we've created a unique internal design that delivers the best oil coalescing/separation. Utilizing a Multi-Stages & Multi-Chambers with a Series of Coalescing Media and Fine AOS Filter.

Are oil catch cans worth it?

Oil catch work by capturing harmful particles from engine blow-by. However, research has shown that aftermarket catch cans lack the efficiency of OEM counterparts. With so much variation in the development of aftermarket parts, it is hard to tell an effective oil catch can from an ineffective one.

Can oil catch cans cause problems?

Can Oil Catch Can Cause Problems? Besides engine failure, which is the most common problem caused by catch cans, another issue is that most generic catch cans may not provide sufficient oil filtering. Fitting one of these devices to a vehicle will not influence the engine's crankcase vapors being filtered.

Does a oil catch can make a difference?

Next, Jason looks at if oil catch cans really do work. The answer is yes. While a catch can won't stop every last particle of contaminant from entering the intake manifold and coating the valves in a direct-injection engine, the less unwanted buildup the better.
