  2. Turn the old filter to the left and pull to remove
  3. Push the new filter in and turn it to the right, making sure its aligned with the grooves in the compartment.
  4. Push up on the filter to lock in place
  5. Close the compartment door by pushing upward until it snaps
  6. Dispense and dispose of four gallons filtered water to flush the filter

KitchenAid Filter Model Number EDR3RXD1

Kitchen Aid side-by-side refrigerators use the same filters as French door designs but can also include an additional filter option. Follow these steps for how to change water filter in KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator for filter model number EDR3RXD1:

  1. Locate filter on left side of bottom base grille
  2. Push the eject button to release the filter and remove filter cap by twisting clockwise.
  3. Pull old filter straight out
  4. Remove cap from new filter
  5. Position filter cap on new filter so ridges are aligned. Twist clockwise to lock in place.
  6. Insert new filter into compartment with arrows pointing up
  7. Push filter in until eject button pops out
  8. Flush line by dispensing and disposing of 4 gallons filtered water
