UV light light itself does not flash, an icon appears in LCD screen with the UV logo, this icon flashes until you reset the UV light by pressing down the UV button and holding for 3 seconds. 3 of 3 found this helpful. Tried several times, no luck, and gave up after almost throwing the unit through the window. After about an hour decided to mess with it again. This time, held button down for a couple of seconds and let it blink. Then, with light blinking, held reset button down for 5 seconds. Voila! Success! Do you? | Report abuse The "new" style filters (yellow or purple) don't seem to trip the arm on the lower safety switch reliably (the lower switch detects the filter, the upper switch detects the cover being latched). Once the filter has been replaced with a new Guardian Technologies filter you must manually reset the timer.
