    Definitely worth it!!

OK First ... the PetSafe Stay & Play stubborn dog is the version of all "radio" fences that provides the largest coverage area. Other models/brands are smaller areas. Keep that and your needs in mind while shopping for one of these. Be aware ... with any of these fences, wired or wireless ... at some point the dog WILL receive corrections, it is unavoidable, but by following training recommendations you can reduce this. I would also add that I have tested this on myself. I felt too guilty otherwise but discovered that at least to level 3, which is the correct setting for my grandoggie, it doesn't really hurt. It feels like a really strong vibration, which of course startles the H3ll out of the dog but isn't really painful. In my case, she apparently associated the fence situation with either me, being on the leash, or both. If you can ... have all family members do some training so they don't associate it with just one person. If your dog is not a runner you could do some leash free training but mine (Boxer) is a misschievous sprinter so there was no other option but to let her off the leash and let her figure it out. At least at that point I had done enough training that she knew the correct thing was to return home when she got a correction. The first few times I let her out or off leash I stayed out with her and called her back when she went out of bounds. To my knowledge after 10 days using full time she has only "challenged" the boundary twice, one being the first time I took off the leash. If you have trouble hearing the collar on setup just set it to the lowest level, put your finger across the prongs and use the correction to set the flags. I Promise you it doesn't hurt, every static shock I have ever gotten was way worse than this thing on the first shock level. I'm hearing impaired so I was not hearing it or not hearing the correction cadence of the beeps. Due to various interferences your coverage area may not in fact be a circle. Because the base is in one end of the house, my coverage area ends up kinda sqarish on the other end of the house where is has to transmit through more walls.. In my case it works out perfectly. It may take you some time to determine the position of the base. I wanted the largest area yet to keep her off the road and out of a ditch, the other two sides didn't matter as they are just farm fields. I was able to turn the switch to high and the range to high and find the right position in the house. You may have to try different locations and play with the range to find your optimal setup. Watch videos on training and follow the training steps. Take your time setting it up and training properly for best results. My only regret is that I didn't bite the bullet and get this sooner.Read full review

    Easy & effective. Works Great!!

After one week of training, our very energetic 60 lb Catahoula Shepard is responding very well. The wireless design does not afford the flexibility of setting specific boundary shape(s), however the ease of set up and use was a good trade off for us. We are very pleased with the product and would highly recommend it.

  • Works Great with my dog

I recently adopted a larger size dog. My yard is fenced in but I was concerned that he may still be able to get out and be lost. In just 1 day he has learned the boundaries and we have not had any trouble with him running away. We have even been able to leave the gate open so he has more room to roam. Great for anyone that has a "adventurous" dog.

  • Love it

I was very hesitant about buying just not sure if it would work or not! We got it set up and put the collar on my dog and it was perfect.. we walked around the yard with him to show him his boundary and he had gotten shocked a few times but now he listens to the beep! So worth it and now he doesn’t have to be on a runner!

  • Easy to use

This product works well and is easy to set up. My dog learned to stay in the yard after a couple of lessons. It is well worth the price.
