ORDERS FOR ITALIAN QUEEN BEESWe are currently taking orders for Italian Queen Bees that will be ready for pickup and delivery. INFORMATION ABOUT OUR QUEEN BEESWe have Italian and Carniolan queens available at different periods of the year. Their availability depends on the demand and breeding cycles so we ask that you keep this in mind as when a particular type is available. (Typically Carniolans are available from late Summer) Each queen is shipped to you in a cage containing 1 queen and few escorts worker bees. The queen will feed on a candy during her transportation phase however recommend placing her into a colony as soon as possible once she arrives. Unfortunately at this time we can not send Queen Bees to Western Australia and Northern Territory due to bio-security regulation rules. IMPORTANTPlease note that Buzzbee has no control over the speed of the Express Postage and is totally controlled and managed by Australia Post themselves. This postage system still remains the fastest method to post Queen bees using Australian Post. We are pleased that most customers still receive their queen bees within a couple of working days. As Buzzbee has no control over the speed of delivery, we as a result we can not be held liable for delays, slow postage and more which could result in the deaths of the bees. VARIETIES OF HONEY BEE BREEDS/VARIETIESThe bees used are popular variety used in Australia using Italian or Carniolans. They are known for being gentle and good to medium honey producers. Italian Italian bees are strong foragers and do a great job keeping their hive clean. When starting out, you can’t go far wrong with Italian bees. Their gentle nature and productivity provide a great way for new beekeepers to become comfortable around bees. Carniolans These bees are known as Carniolans, or "Carnies" for short, in English. At present this subspecies is the second most popular among beekeepers (after the Italian bee). Please NoteAll of our queen bees are unmarked. All of the bees come straight from the bee-yard and as a result all queen bees are not marked. We find most customers don’t want them marked so that they can choose the colour of their choosing or leave them natural. How much does a mated queen bee cost?Buying a mated queen bee from a reputable breeder should only set you back $30-$50 on average. These queens are open mated. They fly free and mate with drones in the area.
