Easy Fudge RecipeEnjoy this rich, chocolaty fudge plain or add some extras. This fudge recipe is a fantastic base that can easily be dressed up. Just add the usual fudge accessories: Nuts, Candy Canes, M&M’s, Oreos, Marshmallows, Sprinkles, Candied Fruit, Coconut or whatever floats your boat. I like to enjoy this fudge as is. Maybe with a sprinkling of powdered sugar. You could technically call this my very first recipe creation. Back in my early 20’s I was attempting to follow a recipe for fudge. Somehow I totally messed up the recipe … ehem, probably a few too many cocktails. But, the mistake actually made {in my humble opinion} a better fudge consistency. And I have been making it this way ever since. It is the one Christmas treat that I get multiple requests for each year. This fudge recipe is simple and tastes fantastic. It also holds it’s shape really well at room temperature. A great addition to any Holiday Treat Platter. Happy Holidays and I hope you Enjoy!

Allrecipes Community Tips and Praise"So, so easy and delicious," raves Janice Weems. "My boyfriend made it and he can't cook anything!! No candy thermometer and we didn't even test it in water. 5 minutes at full boil works perfectly. Made one batch with and one batch without nuts. They are equally good!!" "I added crushed pretzels on the bottom before I poured it into the pan," according to Lori. "Gives it a sweet and salty taste. Everyone raved about it." "I've made this many times over the years," says VaLady53. "It's foolproof! Very creamy. Follow the directions precisely. Everyone will rave about your fudge and ask for the recipe!" What happens if I use sweetened condensed milk instead of evaporated milk in fudge? These items are essentially the same with one big difference: no sugar is added to evaporated milk. Sweetened condensed milk also has 60% of the water removed, but contains 40% sugar. Due to the big flavor difference, they cannot be substituted for each other.
Which is better for fudge evaporated or condensed milk?Unfortunately, you cannot use evaporated milk instead of condensed milk in fudge. You can substitute evaporated milk for regular milk in many instances, but it will not give the same rich, creamy taste that you get from the sweetened condensed milk.
How do you thicken fudge with condensed milk?Add a mixture of water and cornstarch. First, combine water and cornstarch (1:1) and mix thoroughly according to package instructions. Then, add a very small amount of the mixture to your fudge (less than ¼ teaspoon at a time), combining thoroughly. Cornstarch is a natural thickening agent and is relatively tasteless.
Why is my condensed milk fudge not setting? The main reason is that your Fudge has not reached the optimum temperature. If your mixture only reaches 110 or 112 degrees Celsius it will always be soft. That's why we recommend investing in a sugar thermometer. Another reason your Fudge is not setting is that the ratio of liquid to sugar is too high.
