Placing Your Device Into Recovery Mode

STEP 1: Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and leave the other end of the cable attached to the USB port of your computer.

STEP 2: Turn off your device by pressing the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slide to power off slider appears, then slide the slider from left to right. Wait for the device to turn off.

NOTE: If you cannot turn off the device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously. Once the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

STEP 3: Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable back to the device. Your device should turn on at this point.

NOTE: If you see the image below after performing Step 3, allow the device to charge for at least ten minutes to make sure the battery has some charge, and then repeat Step 2.

STEP 4: Continue holding the Home button until you see the “Connect to iTunes” screen. When the image below appears, release the Home button.

NOTE: If you do not see the “Connect to iTunes” screen, repeat the above steps again.
