The Okaloosa County Tax Collector's office accepts applications for Concealed Weapon Licenses (CWL), at the Crestview location, (see image below as you will not be able to access this office from the main lobby) and the Niceville location. An appointment is required for all Concealed Weapon transactions to include original applications, renewals, and fingerprinting. In the Crestview office, you will enter at the back of the building for your CWL appointment; click the image below for directions once at the office.

If your license has been lost, stolen or destroyed, you can obtain a replacement license by contacting the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Requests for replacement licenses cannot be submitted online or at a local office.

  • A written statement explaining that your license has been lost, stolen or destroyed (this statement must be notarized), and
  • The $15 replacement fee (paid by check or money order made payable to the Division of Licensing).

FACTS TO KNOW: These are only processed at our Green Cove location, see address below. 

  • Florida concealed weapon licenses are processed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS)
  • Our office does the entire process only.  We will process applications, take the license photographs, fingerprint the applicants (we cannot accept fingerprints done elsewhere) and send the information securely to the department for final determination 
  • All first time Florida Concealed Weapon Licenses are issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and are mailed to recipients.  Our office does not print or issue first time Florida Concealed Weapon Licenses.  Qualified renewal licenses are printed at our office

 First Time Applicants (includes those transferring from an out of state CWL): 
                 Fee - $119 (includes $22 fee) - credit card will charge $2.84 additional
                           $ 77 active law enforcement officer - credit card will charge $2.50 additional

Please bring:

  • Picture ID (a driver license or state-issued ID card with your current name and address)
  • Copy of a training document that confirms you are proficient with a firearm (Click here for acceptable training documentation). Current and former military members see alternate documentation below. Law enforcement officer, bring letter stating current employment.
  • This application is completed on line.  You may bring someone with you to help you complete the application if you are not familiar with using a computer.  Our staff cannot enter the information for you.
  • If you have ever been arrested, bring certified copies of court documentation reflecting final disposition of charges
  • If you were born outside the US or are a permanent legal resident alien, bring official documentation confirming your citizenship status
  • If you must bring small children with you, please bring someone to watch them as they are not allowed in the application area
  • Current Military Members - Common Access Card or other form of official military identification or a copy of current orders
  • Veterans - copy of DD-214 long form reflecting honorable discharge from military service

Renewals - Fee - $ 57 (includes $12 fee, additional $15 late fee if expired 6 months or less; more than 6 months, processed as an original) Cash, check or credit/debit card are accepted for payment.  The card vendor will charge a fee of $2.00. License is printed in our office.

Please bring: (can be renewed up to 95 days before expiration date)

  • CWL# or renewal notice
  • State issued photo ID that includes full name and date of birth
  • Legal name change documentation if applicable, i.e., marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court documentation
  • If you must bring small children with you, please bring someone to watch them as they are not allowed in the application area

Currently appointments are for ALL Florida residents regardless of what county you reside in. Appointments are made for originals and renewals from 8:00am to 4:10pm. You can call 904-269-6320 Option 2 to make an appointment. Provide name, phone number and whether a renewal or first time application. Appointments are required for first time license. Renewals may be done on a walk-in basis as time permits.

Where do I get my concealed weapons permit in Florida?

You can apply for a concealed weapon license in person at a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) regional office or an authorized Florida tax collector's office in your area.

Can I get a concealed carry permit online in Florida?

Florida has an online application process, but you may apply in person by making an appointment to complete the online application at either an FDACS Regional Office or a Tax Collector's Office. (Please note that this option may be limited due to COVID-19.) There is no need to complete an application in advance.

How long does it take to get concealed carry permit in Florida?

I submitted my application for a concealed weapon or firearm license. How long will processing take? The turnaround time for processing a concealed weapon license application is approximately 50 to 55 days.

Where do I get my concealed carry permit in Alabama?

Alabama issues concealed handgun licenses only to residents of Alabama, through the sheriff of their county of residence. Currently, Alabama does not issue carry conceal permits to out of state residents. Firearm laws can be complex.
