I don’t know about you, but I almost always have a reason to go to Aldi. Whether it’s because I need to stock up on coffee, reload my stash of kombucha (they often have the lowest price for Health-Ade!), pick up some dog treats, or just roam the aisles, I can justify a trip any day of the week. Of course, Wednesdays are the best days to go to Aldi because that’s when the newest Aldi Finds hit shelves.

Because of my job here at Kitchn, I always get the inside scoop on upcoming Aldi Finds. At the end of each month, our sources send us a list and we get to look through in advance. (It’s tough work, but someone has to do it!) Don’t worry — we always share the Aldi Finds we’re most excited about. (Here’s the list for July!)

When we ran the June list I made a mental note to make sure I hit up Aldi on June 16 — because I really wanted to try these Barq’s Frozen Root Beer & Vanilla Ice Cream Float tubes! (Aldi also had these last year and I missed them then, too. This was going to be my year!)

Of course, life got in the way and I didn’t make it to the store … until this very weekend. Luckily, my local store still had quite a few boxes! (And I’ve confirmed with a few friends around the country who’ve said their stores still had them too.) So if you’re looking for a reason to go to Aldi this week, these root beer pops are it.

Find: Barq’s Frozen Root Beer & Vanilla Ice Cream Floats, $2.99 for eight tubes

They taste just like a homemade root beer float! Only you don’t have to worry about causing the thing to explode during assembly, because there is no assembly: Just pull the top off, squeeze the cardboard tube, and enjoy. The ice cream is oh-so creamy and although the root beer part isn’t exactly fizzy, it’s distinguishably root beer-y!

Temperatures have been in the 90s these last few days in my neck of the woods (we don’t have air conditioning!) and these pops make for the perfect treat. I love that they’re self-contained (I can eat one over my laptop while I work!) and they’re super refreshing. I might just have to get back to the store for a second time this week to buy more. Remember, they’re technically an Aldi Find, so once they’re gone, they’ll likely be gone for the season.

Have you tried these? What’d you think?

In the summer, there are few things for refreshing (or delicious) than a root beer float. Equal parts fizzy and creamy, a root beer float is the perfect summer treat. And now, Barq's is making it even easier to enjoy the ice creamy treat. They've made a root beer float in a tube. Summer just got infinitely better now that one of our favorite treats has become portable. Think about how much more fun trips to the beach and BBQ's will be now.

Barq's is seriously turning up the volume on how we enjoy a summer treat.

As delicious as a root beer float is, it's also very messy. No matter how to do it (ice cream then soda, or vice versa) there is almost always overflow. Then you're stuck with a sticky mess on your hands (literally.) With the root beer float tube, cleanup is a breeze — all you have to do is throw it in the trash when you're finished. These will be perfect for days at the pool, or summer birthday parties. Each tube contains a perfectly balanced amount of vanilla ice cream swirled with frozen root beer. So you're getting a little bit of both in every bite.

Portable snacks are the best for summer. You can just throw these in your cooler and they will be there whenever you're ready to grab one (or three.) And since it's in a tube, you don't have to worry about buying a bunch of supplies to make floats. All you have to do it go pick up and box. Because as delicious a root beer float can be, we tend to avoid them because they're kind of involved.

And with the summer heat, it's definitely not something you're going to outside. Imagine the kind of bugs and other mess they'd attract. Convenience and portability are the biggest selling point here.

You can get the Barq's root beer floats (they come 24 in a box) at your local grocery store. And it is also available through popular grocery delivery app Instacart. Excuse us while we go buy 10 boxes. That should be enough for summer right?
