Please Note: Must be at least 25 years old to adopt. If you are renting we will require speaking with your landlord and receive a written document stating that you are allowed to have pit bulls where you are renting and a pet deposit has been paid or agreed on.

Adoption Process

Step 1

Please fully complete and submit the Adoption Application. Filling out the adoption application is not a commitment to adopt; it is simply the first step in the process.

Step 2

Once we receive your application, the application will be reviewed by our Adoption Coordinator.

Brave Bully Rescue is not able to accept every application for adoption and reserves the right to reject an application. Applications are PROCESSED on a first come first serve basis but are APPROVED based on which application is the best match for the animal and family. Brave Bully Rescue will perform a vet check and a reference check.

We WILL call your vet and make sure all animals are current on their vaccinations, rabies, on a monthly heartworm preventative and spayed/neutered. We will also require 3 reference (not family related).

Step 3

Once your application is pre-approved, a Brave Bully team member will contact you to set up a home visit. A home visit is required to ensure adequate living environment for our dog. Please understand that we will always have the best interest for our Bullies. Thank you for your understanding!

Step 4

Once the home visit is approved, we will schedule a “meet and greet” with your entire family so they can meet the potential candidates and make sure it’s a match for you and your family’s lifestyle.

Step 5

After the “meet and greet”, Brave Bully Rescue will set up a “Sleep-Over”.

Our “Sleep-Over” program has been very successful with our adoption process. We believe it’s important for the potential family to spend quality time in their own home with our dog. A few hours it’s not enough to make sure if our bully will be the right fit for you and your family. It also gives you the opportunity to bond with your potential new family member.

Step 6

If the “Sleep-Over” is a success, we will then approve your Adoption Application. One of our team members will set up a time to meet at your home and finalize the adoption. A Contract will be required. Our contract is a legal-binding document that spells out your responsibilities as the owner of the pet you are adopting. In addition, the Contract provides you with a record of the medical care that our rescue provided for the animal while in our care.

**Every penny of an adoption contribution goes towards our dogs medical expenses while the dog is in the possession of Brave Bully Rescue. In fact, in almost all cases, the adoption contribution falls far short from the actual medical expenses spent on our dogs. The average amount we spend on a healthy rescued dog is $250-$350, but it could easily cost Brave Bully Rescue as much as $2,000 or more depending on the medical issues. Brave Bully Rescue depends on public donations.**
