Hello Everyone,

I while back I broke the left rear window of the back glass assembly during a move. Now that I am settled in my new home and duty station, I have looked for a new assembly they are quite expensive. I have one at a Pick-a-Part that is significantly cheaper than the dealer and I want to go get it. My problem is I have no idea how to remove it. I have some documents with steps, but I am wondering if anyone has some a little more user-friendly. Something with pictures of steps or maybe a video of removal and or install.

I don’t recall what part of the rear window @S.T.U.V broke, but I know he posted about the issue, unsure how he resolved it.

I would say search but the results internally are sketchy and external searches such as Google currently are not working.

Install Rear-Window?

I had the misfortune of a grill falling over in the back of my 2006 RTL, which ended up smashing the rear sliding window. Is replacing this something to be tackled on your own? I can find a new replacement window for $75, otherwise, it is make a claim and pay a $100 deductible on a $300 bill...

Sorry been on vacation. Pay a glass company. Not easy. If you have comprehensive insurance I suggest just doing it. If the deductible is more then $500 then maybe see what a glass company would charge to remove the one on the junkyard vehicle then install it. problem is you might pay double the labor getting all the old glue etc off the old one. I pretty sure I remember "urethane" being on the invoice so i don't believe it just bolts in.

Unless the old one is out already. Then I do recommend just paying someone to professionally do it. Leaks etc will bite you in the long run.

Does anyone know if the back glass assembly and the center slider are two different pieces? Went to Safelite to get fixed and they only had assembly with the air glass, no slider and swore that it is supposed to be one whole unit.

Early on, breakage of any of the rear three panes required replacement of the entire assembly before the center glass became available separately. Breakage of either side glass requires a new assembly.

The rear window assembly (frame including two side panes) lists for just under $1,000 and is a somewhat labor-intensive job.

Are the side panes like old time windows and held in with a gasket? I don't remember and it's too cold outside to go look.

I have no idea. Honda doesn't sell just the side panes, anyway.

Does anyone know of some kind of headache rack or other back glass protection for the Gen2 ridgeline? I've broken my back glass twice now - it's so easy to do.
