Indoor swimming, game room, internet access... this place really has anything you would want. We paid roughly $40.00 a night. Our room was clean. The AC worked. The microwave worked. The television worked. This is our second stay at the Spirit of the Smokies and we had no reservation either time! This place is located on the strip in Pigeon Forge near the wood grill buffet (literally right next door). If you stay at the hotel, they give you a dollar off the buffet for breakfast and for dinner. Either time, if you eat at the restaurant, the selection is amazing (its country cooking so that is what you should expect). The hotel itself shows its age only in that there is an occasional stain on the carpet in the hallways. This does not detract from the overall experience. The cleaning staff can be seen, every morning, working their buns off to keep this place as comfortable and as clean as possible. I wouldn't call Spirit of the Smokies a five star hotel but it is perfect for families who are looking for a higher quality place. I'd rank it above a lot of the national chains out there. The staff here is friendly but man are they some busy folks. There are typically two staff members working the front desk and there seems to be a maintenance man on hand 24/7. This came in handy when I discovered our toilet wouldn't flush on the evening we checked in. Within seven minutes there was a maintenance man at my room door with a plunger and a smile. That is service. I don't care where you're staying! Give this place a shot. It is one of the cheaper hotels in Pigeon Forge and the folks here are outstanding. Room tip: There are three options. King suite, Queen, and double Queen. Get a kitchenette (Single Queen) and save on dining out! Thank you so much for your very detailed comments.
