How to pair cable remote to tv

Control Your Devices

Use the steps on this page to program your remote to control your TV, Blu-Ray player, sound bar or other device.

The information on this page is for non-TiVo® DVR customers. If you have a TiVo® DVR, use these instructions instead.

Three-Digit Code Method

  1. Locate the three-digit code(s) for your device in the user guide for your remote control model.
    • There may be more than one available code for your device. Make note of all of the available codes, since the first one you enter may not work for your device.
  2. Power on the device.
  3. On the remote control, press and hold the OK/SEL button and the device button together until that button lights up.
    • The device button depends on what device you're trying to program – such as the TV button to program to your TV, or the DVD button to program to your Blu-Ray player.
  4. Point the remote control at the device and enter the three-digit code.
  5. If the device turns off, move to the next step. If the device doesn't turn off, try the other three digit codes you noted for your device until your device turns off.
  6. Press the Power button on your remote to turn the device back on.
  7. After your device turns back on, press the device button to lock in the code. The remote control is now programmed for your device.

Repeat these steps for any other devices you want to program to control with your remote.

  3. Press the TV Power button. If the TV turns off, the code has been accepted. Turn the TV back on and make sure the Volume and Mute buttons also work.
