How to open hood on jeep cherokee

TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE HOOD

Two latches must be released to open the hood.

1. Pull the hood release lever located under the drivers side of the instrument panel.

2. Move to the outside of the vehicle and pull the safety latch release lever forward

(toward you). The safety latch release lever is located behind the front edge of the

hood, slightly off-center to the right.

To prevent possible damage, do not slam the hood to close it. Lower the hood until

it is open approximately 6 inches (15 cm), and then drop it. This should secure

both latches. Never drive your vehicle unless the hood is fully closed, with both

latches engaged.

Be sure the hood is fully latched before driving your vehicle. If the hood is not fully

latched, it could open when the vehicle is in motion and block your vision. Failure

to follow this warning could result in serious injury or death.

CAUTION!

Could be like my 92 and the split rivets that hold the unlocking assembly under the hood busted, making the assembly move and not the latches.

You can either reach from under the jeep to the small rod between the pulleys and radiator and push it to what i think is the pass side, HARD. should pop it and if that doesnt work pull the headlight buckets and unbolt them from there

This video shows you how to open the hood in your 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Popping the hood on your Cherokee is a two step process, you need to release the hood latch inside your Cherokee and then you need to release the safety latch under your hood in the front of your Cherokee. The video above shows you the location of both hood latches. Sometimes, the hood on Jeeps gets stuck and won't pop up after the interior latch is released. If this occurs on your Cherokee, simply pull up on the hood and it should pop up for you to release the second latch. Sometimes, especially on older Cherokees, you may have difficulty getting your hood to latch when you close it. In this case, the interior release lever on your 2014 Jeep Cherokee is probably stuck in the "open" position - push the release lever back and forth several times and then try to close your hood.
