How to make a curb grindable

ok i tried to wax this curb by my house with shortys curb candy and for some reason when i tried to 50 50 on it it didnt grind i just got stuck all the time...how do you apply wax to a curb or anything period

Are you sure its just that you cant 50-50?

no i cant 50-50 thats why im practicing it on a low curb duh ahah..but like i was sayin i keep gettin stuck ..maybe the curb is to rough even for wax

Well just to let you know,

You got me -repp'd LoL

But yeah, If your getting stuck, you have to kinda push your back foot, almost like trying to Mannie or 5-0, with the extra pressure it will make it slide,

Keep practicing,

You will get it!

Now thats the post I wanted to hear. ;-) I'll posi you when I get the chance. You are one of my favorite members, just so you know.

^^
Is that the only thing you say? I mean when ever I see you post its always "lawl".

make sure the curb u see is not visibly rough as in you can see the dents and cracks and stuff, first start off with a harder wax to get the wax in the curb to cover the holes and crappiness so it contracts less friction making u slide more.

Once you apply the harder wax tail the tail/nose and press and scrape down on the curb spot u waxed so its more in there so the wax wont just go on your trucks or whatever and stick.

Now repeat the steps i did with the first and second paragraph with a softer wax.

When ever its getting less buttery just apply a bit more wax and scrape it in.

And make sure the curb you wax is FLAT not a bit round or it is gonna be slanted when doing 50-50 or do any possible variations.

If you aren't waxing a PAINTED CURB, you will not be able to grind it.

Ignore the 12 step process of putting on 2 different waxes, that's retarded.

hmm maybe i should just buy a flat rail haha

Its easier to grind harder materials, try and find a nice granite/marble curb, theirs one in a town near me that is peeerfect for doing grinds on.

NOTES: After skating all of these curbs for the next 30-40 minutes, both waxes and the enamel started grinding a bit better. We naturally assumed this was due to layers of aluminum getting deposited on the edge of each curb. With time, nose/tail slides became a little bit stickier on both the enamel and waxed curbs. The lacquer never changed, and remained slick and fast the entire time.

Hefe, will that shit change a curb that is all matte and sticky into one that slick and shiny? If so I'm gonna go nuts with a can this week.

My tip for smoothing out a curb or ledge is to use a cheap stone blade sharpener like this https://www.google.com/search?q=stone+sharpener&client=firefox-b-1-d&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjzxberkfnmAhVJtZ4KHVI5AMkQ_AUoAXoECA4QAw&biw=1920&bih=944#spd=7506431002362702261.

I used one of those a couple years ago and it was like wax only it smoothed shit out, lasted forever. I made new rough ledges skateable within like 5 minutes. In one area I used it to smooth out a few curbs, and ledges and could have done more. Going to buy one now that I remember how effective it was I think the old one is at my dads.

Can you grind curbs?

There are several ways to do a slappy grind on a curb. The best place to slappy grind is on low curbs that rise out of the pavement. Look around in parking lots - especially near handicapped parking spots. These are also often thickly coated with red paint, which makes them all the nicer to grind!

Can you grind a curb without wax?

Boardslides and grinds can be really fun, but only if you can actually make it all the way. To help overcome most of the friction, you must wax the curb or rail well.
