Experience hands-on, computer-based, and simulator training before you get behind the wheel. Step FourPass your CDL examOnce your training is finished, you’ll return to a Prime training center to take your state CDL exam. Those who pass on their first try will receive a $250 bonus. Step SixHit the roadOnce your training is completed, you will be eligible for upgrade review (dependent on truck availability). Step ThreeReceive instructionWork 1-on-1 with an instructor while you learn how to drive a semi truck. You’ll get practice with the necessary components of your CDL exam along with experience hauling freight. Step FiveComplete your final trainingAfter you pass your CDL exam, you’ll continue to train with a trainer for a minimum of 50,000 miles. You may qualify for a one-time government grant to help you pay for a portion or the entire tuition amount for training. You would not be required to pay back the grant. If you qualify, the approval process usually takes a few weeks to complete.
