How much are the cheapest tickets for the super bowl

This year’s Super Bowl ticket won’t be the most expensive on average — unless prices increase over the next two days.

As of Friday morning, TickPick’s average ticket price had fallen to $6,803 and is now more than $500 less than the average ticket in 2021. The lowest ticket prices have now fallen roughly $1,000 over the past two days.

“It's one of the most volatile events,” TickPick Co-Founder and Co-CEO Brett Goldberg said on Yahoo Finance Live (video above). “And there's just so many people that are interested and depending on the fan base, that goes can have a drastic impact on pricing.”

For example, he said, “when the 49ers got knocked out, leaving the LA Rams in, you would think the home team may create more demand. But the 49ers travel really well, really close to L.A. And so that ended up having some negative pressure. Good thing for Bengals fans, pricing coming down quite a bit after the 49ers got knocked out.”

The lowest price to get into SoFi Stadium has been the number to watch leading into Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.

Moments after the matchup was confirmed, TicketMaster (LYV) listed its cheapest ticket. Within 24 hours, that get-in price had fallen $1,000.

The most expensive ticket package at TickPick purchased, as of Wednesday, totaled $95,760 for four tickets.

As of Friday afternoon, 12 days after the matchup was decided, the cheapest ticket available on TicketMaster was $3,500 before fees. Prices at TickPick, which bakes ticketing fees into the price before the payment process, sat at $4,366.

The fluctuating price is expected given the large pool of potential buyers bidding for what they believe is a fair price in a 70,000-seat stadium, Goldberg said.

“Once you start to see those trends, it's unclear,” he said. “Sometimes that brings in massive amounts of buying that then ends up popping those prices back up. And that's what we've seen the last three years.”

Goldberg compared the volatility to the stock market: “Every day you check, kind of like stocks, every day keeps going down, keeps going down. And you think, is it going to just keep going down that trajectory until a massive wave of buying comes? And that typically happens on Friday, Saturday. So it's always like trying to catch a falling knife.”

Through Wednesday, California dominated TickPick’s state-by-state purchases breakdown. Thirty-one percent of buyers purchased from the host state, according to the company. Unsurprisingly, Ohio finished second on the list with 12% of purchasers, while the Midwest as a whole combined for nearly 25% of orders.

Super Bowl LVII is the culmination of the 2022 NFL season. The game will pit the winners of the AFC Championship and NFC Championship games against each other, in a contest that will determine the NFL's champion for that season. The Super Bowl is always played in February, and has become something of a national holiday, as it is the most watched television program every year in America, with commercial airtime going for millions of dollars for each 30-second block.

Super Bowl History

The first Super Bowl was played in January of 1967, when the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs by a final score of 35-10. Since then, the game has grown into one of the most beloved American traditions, and a bucket list event for many sports fans.

Only one team has managed to win six Super Bowls, with that honor going to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have won six of their eight appearances in the big game. The New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and San Francisco 49ers are all just behind the Steelers with five titles, while the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have four Super Bowls each.

Most Memorable Super Bowls

When it comes to memorable Super Bowls, there aren't many more memorable than the clash between the New York Giants and New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. The Patriots came into that game with an 18-0 record on the season, led by a record-setting offense with Tom Brady at quarterback and the legendary Randy Moss breaking records at wide receiver. New England entered that game as a double digit favorite, but the Giants did not follow the script.

Led by a ferocious pass rush headed by Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, the Giants defensive line pressured Brady time and time again, with the Giants pulling one of the greatest upsets in NFL history. On a late Eli Manning touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress, the Giants won the Super Bowl while ruining the Patriots' perfect season.

Other memorable Super Bowls include the Patriots' massive comeback and overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51, the only overtime game in Super Bowl history, as well as New England's last minute goal line interception by Malcolm Butler to seal the championship against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49.
