How long to reheat chicken wings in air fryer

It’s easy to reheat chicken wings in an air fryer, as long as you understand how the air fryer works.

I’ve reheated chicken wings a variety of ways, but I’ve found that the best way is in a single layer in an air fryer basket.

Reheating wings in the oven on a baking sheet works. However, it heats up the whole kitchen, which seems like a waste of energy. The toaster oven works too, but it takes quite a bit longer.

An air fryer is basically a small convection oven that quickly circulates hot air around the food. This allows for crispy skin while sealing the moisture and juices inside.

I love the crunch of crispy wings, as long as the inside isn’t dried out. In fact, when the texture is good and the spiciness is at the correct level for my taste, Buffalo wings are on my list of favorite foods.

Whether you leftover chicken wings were originally cooked in a frying pan, in the oven, or on a grill, a great way to heat them up again is in an air fryer.

Next time you make or purchase hot wings, get a few extra so you can have another delicious treat the next day.

Leftover Wings

I typically cook more wings than I know we’ll eat that day because I think they make great leftovers.

And I never throw good food away when I know it will be just as good the next day … or even a couple of days later.

Proper storage for chicken is essential. If you want to freeze the wings, make sure you use freezer friendly bags and containers that are airtight, or you might wind up with freezer burn.

In my opinion, the best way to store leftover wings is in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Or you can wrap them tightly in aluminum foil.

You can cook them either from frozen or cold. It obviously takes a bit longer if they’re frozen when. Even though you can put them in the air fryer either way, the reheating process is basically the same.

Although the wings are fully cooked before I store them as leftovers, I still check the temperature with a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature is 165˚ at the thickest point.

Buffalo Sauce

Even if the wings have sauce on them from the first time they were cooked, I typically add more.

You can use any of the bottled versions. I’ve tried several, and I think they’re all good.

Or you can make this delicious chicken wing sauce from Aubrey’s Kitchen. It’s an easy recipe, and it delivers tasty, saucy wings.

How to Reheat Wings in Your Air Fryer

The air fryer reheating process is super easy. It only requires a few simple steps. Here are the step by step instructions:

First, you’ll need some chicken wings that are cooked.

Next, either spray the air fryer basket with a non-aerosol spray or line it with parchment paper.

I use parchment paper that has holes and is designed specifically for air fryers.

You can use regular cooking spray as well, but the aerosol tends to gunk up the air fryer a bit more.

Place the cold wings in a single layer in the bottom of the basket. I normally reheat 6, but I only had 5 left from the night before.

You can spray the wings with olive oil for extra crispness, but it isn’t necessary.

Now you have a choice of adding extra sauce or leaving them as-is until after you reheat them.

I’ve done it both ways, and I prefer to add more sauce before reheating. It adds to the crispness of the skin and delivers the most delicious chicken wings.

Sometimes I preheat my air fryer, but when I’m reheating wings, I don’t.

I just put the basket of wings into the air fryer, set it at 3 minutes on 350˚ F, and let the machine do all the work.

Please keep in mind that you’ll need to add a couple of minutes if you’re reheating them from frozen.

I’ve put the instructions in a printable recipe card at the bottom of his post for your convenience.

If you prefer other cuts of chicken, you can use the same method for reheating it. In fact, I’ve been known to use Buffalo sauce on chicken thighs or drumsticks.

You may add the sauce after the chicken is reheated if you prefer.
