How long after tinting windows before rolling down

... and I don't know what to look for. I got my G35 tinted on thursday. It was done by 6pm, and I asked the people how long I should wait to roll down the windows and they said 24 hours. I'm driving about 6 hours later, and of course I roll my driver side window down without thinking about it . There does not seem to be any immediate damage, but when I returned to my house that night I thought I saw a couple of bubbles from the outside, but could not see them from the inside. The next day I couldn't see any bubbles from any side. The window in question seems fine, just like the other windows, but I'm not sure if there is a slow damage that will occur, or if the damage is immediately noticeable. Can anyone recommend if I should take it to the place I had it done? I don't want them to say it needs to be replaced when it doesn't and charge me for it.

Thanks.

I tell some that "if it was my car I would roll them down 'today', but I recommend waiting 3 days." My biggest worry is that there might be water pooling up into bubbles and if they get pushed then you will get a "snail trail" that will not go away.....

I really don't worry about it much anymore. If the film is squeegeed out well enough then there is not much going to go wrong.

How long do I have to wait before opening/closing my windows normally and washing my car after tinting my windows? from AutoDetailing

Roll down windows after tint. How long do you have to wait?

Roll down windows after tint. Tinting your car windows serves as a cheaper alternative to make it look glossy and attractive. In case you are planning to leverage the style quotient of your car, it would be wise to get across to a professional installer. You should be aware that window tints are available in different variants. Apart from shielding the interiors against UV rays, tinted panes allow the right proportion of light into the vehicle. With a professional installation, you can reduce the glare. Besides, the interiors of the car look more spacious.

Now, you might be wondering how long do you have to wait to roll down windows after tint. In this context, you should note that people often complain of small air bubbles getting in between the panes and sheet of tint. To prevent this, you should hire a reputed installer like Solar Care. Moreover, you need to leave the pane as it is, without rolling it down for 2 to 4 days.

When do air bubbles appear?

Air bubbles might show up in your car window pane under the following conditions:

  • The residue or dirt was not properly cleaned before tinting
  • The glass window had water droplets on it before being tinted
  • The installer failed to wipe the glass surface properly before tinting

This explains why you should reach out to a professional installer. Solar Care, and other companies of similar grade have an impressive track record for their seamless installation services.

How long does it take for the bubbles to disappear?

In some cases, the bubbles might show up even if there is no fault with the installation process. In this case, it would take around 3 weeks for them to disappear naturally. However, if you park the vehicle under the hot sun, the bubbles would go away in a few days. It is quite normal for the bubbles to appear. This is a part of the installing or application process, when water gets trapped between the film and the pane. However, if you notice the bubbles even after three weeks, it would indicate a poor installation.

When is it safe to roll down your windows?

Now, you might have installed the tint, and now thinking how long do you have to wait to roll down windows after tint. If you are looking for a brief answer, wait for four days to ensure maximum precaution.

Let’s check out why you need to wait for a few days after tinting your car windows. It takes some time for the tint to dry off against the glass surface. In case you roll down the panes too early, chances are high that the tinted coating would peel off. This is why seasoned professionals recommend car owners to wait for approximately three to four days after getting it installed. Although you might find some tints drying off within 24 hours, not all tints work well on all types of glass. Reinstalling the tint would double the cost.

Considering the possibilities of the tint getting peeled off, it would be wise to wait out the period.

How to take care of the drying process?

After installation, you should take care of the drying process, particularly if the weather is cloudy, or hazy conditions exist in the surroundings. The air packets can make their way to the surface, causing bubbles. Therefore, it is recommended to park your car in a warm location, preferably under sunlight. In case you need to park the vehicle in shade, you can use a hair dryer to ensure a warm environment around the panes. However, do not touch the pane, as the tint might come out easily.

How do I know when my tint is cured?

To determine whether your new tint is dry, be on the lookout for the bubbles and haziness of your new window to fade away. This haziness is caused by the water evaporating, so when your window looks like it's been factory installed, you can feel confident your tint has dried.

Can I roll my windows down 1 day after tint?

So, to allow the film to adhere to the glass thoroughly, it's recommended that you leave your windows rolled up for at least 24 hours after installation. If you live in a humid climate, the drying time takes a while for any remaining water to evaporate.
