How do you know which side to do the Epley maneuver?To determine affected side:. Sit on bed so that if you lie down, your head hangs slightly over the end of the bed.. turn head to the right and lie back quickly.. Wait 1 minute.. If you feel dizzy, then the right ear is your affected ear.. If no dizziness occurs, sit up.. Wait 1 minute.. How many times a day should you do the Epley maneuver?Your healthcare provider will tell you how often to do this exercise. They may ask you to do it 3 times a day until your symptoms have been gone for 24 hours. Your provider will also tell if your right or left ear is causing your symptoms.
What should you not do after Epley maneuver?1. Wait for 10 minutes after the maneuver is performed before going home. This is to avoid "quick spins," or brief bursts of vertigo as debris repositions itself immediately after the maneuver. Don't drive yourself home until you are certain you feel “normal”.
