I asked for an early check-in upon my arrival at the airport in order to freshen up fir a meeting. The concierge quickly accommodated my request. I chose the hotel due to its proximity to the airport shuttle, around the clock since I had a 6:00 am flight. Very nice restaurant, delicious good—GREAT burger, bacon cooked to perfection, good beer options on tap, lots of elevators to avoid long waits.

• Bed was nice. Charged for internet, then have shuttle driver drop us off on wrong level to get our airport bus, and then argue with us about how he was right, pointing to a sign that said, in part, "bus stop...drop offs only".

• The managers Marco and Brian were very accommodating and responsive with me when I had a negative point to say about their hotel. The maid and cafe staff were also very kind, especially to my kids. I liked walking along the trail with my dog in the mornings and evenings. The hotel is about 10 minute drive to downtown Burlingame and San Mateo.

• We chose to stay in San Bruno because it's pleasant, less crowded, less expensive than San Francisco. Due to its proximity to Highways 101 and 280, as well as Highway 1, along the coast. It's easy to drive from San Bruno to anywhere on the peninsula, even down to San Jose. We spent most of our time going to and from San Francisco. We took a different way each time depending on which part of the city we wanted to land. You can get to just about anywhere in SF from San Bruno in about 20 minutes. Our only other San Bruno stop was the IHOP, which is about a 4 minute walk from Gateway Inn and Suites. IHOP is not fancy but portions are big and prices pretty reasonable. We ordered online using Gateway Inn's WiFi and walked breakfast back to our room. When we checked out today, we made a thermos full of superior coffee in our room's Keurig-style coffee maker. The nice maid gave us extra coffee pods, so we were able to fill our cups as well as thermos with delicious Kirkland coffee. We took leftovers from our dining adventures in SF as well as the IHOP out of the generous-sized mini fridge and heated them in the microwave, It was easy to depart San Bruno in light traffic at 10 am. We crossed the San Mateo Bridge and made it home in a couple of hours without needing to stop for food. Perfect.

• They charged extra $50 per room they called deposit on top of what has already been paid. I did not get my deposits back. I had two rooms. I had to argue that payment has been paid with email to show. I had to call booking.com and wait some more. Bad time.

• Millbrae is adjacent to San Francisco Airport so it is handy to the airport. The best feature of Millbrae is that is has a large Asian-American population and so it has a large number of really good Chinese restaurants. I especially enjoy the Hong Kong Flower Lounge for dim sum.

• This hotel was clean, safe, and provided my husband and I a much needed (and appreciated) weekend getaway. The staff were helpful, accommodating and friendly from the front desk upon arrival, the breakfast staff each morning, and the pool staff as we were enjoying our last day. The pool was sparkling clean, there was ample room, comfortable beds, but the most surprising (and very much enjoyed) was the incredible breakfasts offered that were included in the price of the room! We will definitely return and hopefully for a longer stay than just the weekend! Kudos to Holiday Express!

  Nice big room, bit of a hike to get to but worth it. We been to SFO and stayed before, so we had an idea of the location of the hotel. Close to Union Square, shops and bars. Still classed as near/in the financial district, so much quieter in the area than our visit in 2019, following from the pandemic. Nice Irish bar very close by. Good location for seeing the sights. Accommodation in SFO isn't cheap, wherever you stay. We used this hotel as a stopover, before joining a ship the next day.
