LeDuc Historic Estate Tour Season: The LeDuc Historic Estate in Hastings will kick off their tour season starting May 12, offering both drop-in and pre-registered tours. The Estate is open Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from May 12 through October 16. Guided tours start at: 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm & 4:00pm. The cost is free for Dakota County Historical Society members, $7 for adults; $6 for those 60 years of age and older; $5 for those ages 6-17 years of age and free for children 5 years old and under. September 28:

Enlightened Leads Guest Meeting: You are invited to check out the Enlightened Leads Group. The Enlightened Leads Group is a relationship based, referral group that will meets two Wednesdays of each month. Business professionals get together with their peers to discuss strategy, work through problems and obstacles their business is facing, while building an ongoing business relationship with other group members. Books & Beyond: "Color Me Autumn": The Dakota County Library invites young families to Books & Beyond: "Color Me Autumn", on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Farmington Library. Join library staff for stories, activities and crafts around the theme "Color Me Autumn". Presented in partnership with ISD 192 Early Childhood Family Education. Ages: 0-6 with their caregivers.

Joy Wednesday Supper: The Joy Lutheran Church Wednesday Night Supper menu for September 28 is Lasagna Hotdish. All are welcome at Joy's table. Suppertime is from 5:15 to 6:30 PM, every Wednesday. Steam Machine At RAAC: The Rosemount Area Arts Council (RAAC) is sponsoring a Bluegrass concert at the Steeple Center, 14375 S Robert Trail, Rosemount, on Friday, September 30 at 7 pm. Originally formed in Minneapolis in 2017, Steam Machine brought to the national stage a Midwest influenced string band aesthetic that didn't draw such hard lines between bluegrass and old time music. Combining smooth, clean, powerful fiddling with rolling three finger banjo and a front-of-the-beat, bluegrass inspired approach to rhythm backup, the resulting sound was innovative, commanding, and "suspiciously entertaining". October 1:

Fall Colors Family Hike: Registration opens on September 1st for a Fall Colors Family Hike on Saturday, October 1st, from 10 to 11 AM at the East Shelter, Spring Lake Park Reserve. Everyone is invited to join a park naturalist on a guided hike to enjoy the fall colors and hunt for other signs of autumn. The hike is free of charge. Register on the Dakota County Parks web page.

Raider Open Golf Tournament: It's time once again for the Annual Raider Open Golf Tournament to benefit the Hastings Raiders Golf Team. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, October 1st, with check-in at 8:30 AM and a shotgun start at 9:30. Entry fee is $85 per person, or $340 per team, including 18 holes of golf, one cart per twosome, a catered banquet and competitive prizes. Hole and corporate sponsorships are also available. GRRVLC Oktoberfest: You're invited to a memory-making fundraiser designed to support and celebrate Freedom Park and the Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center in Prescott. The event will have an "Oktoberfest" twist to it, by serving delicious German food and Paulaner beer all while listening to authentic German music by accordionist Ron Machel. Rivertown Fall Art Festival: The 45th Annual Rivertown Fall Art Festival is taking place in Lowell Park, 201 Water Street North, in Stillwater, from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, October 1, and from 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, October 2. More than 10,000 attendees typically attend the two-day event along the banks of the St. Croix River. The juried art festival is welcoming 150 artisans this year, a record number. Specialty hand-crafted items will be showcased in mediums of all kinds: ceramics, clay, culinary arts, drawing, fiber work, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, pottery, wood and more. Festival organizers also are offering a beer and wine tent, a variety of food selections, live music and entertainment.

October 2:

ISD 200 139th Annual All-Class Reunion: The Hastings High School Alumni Association is proud to announce its 139th Annual All-Class Reunion to be held on Sunday, October 2nd, at the Depot in downtown Hastings. Social hour starts at 5:15 PM, and dinner at 6. Join them for a night of memories, laughs and remembrance of those they have lost. This year they honor the Class of 1972 as they celebrate their 50th Class Reunion. Also, be on the lookout in the coming weeks as they announce their choice for the Alumni of the Year. Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast: The Hastings Knights of Columbus invite everyone to their annual Pancake Breakfast, from 8 AM to noon on Sunday, October 2nd, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th Street West, in Hastings. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee, orange juice, and milk. Meals are $8 for those 13 and older, $4 for those 5 to 12, and free for children younger than 5. Proceeds will benefit the Total Life Care Pregnancy Resource Center and Hastings Family Service.

October 4:

Tuesday Coffee Concert: The Hastings Arts Center invites everyone to a Tuesday Coffee Concert on October 4th, featuring the musical talents of the Classic Brass Quintet. Doors open at 10 AM for coffee, treats, and music starting at 10:30. Also enjoy the art gallery before and after the concert. The Tuesday Coffee Concerts are free of charge and are held at the Hastings Arts Center, 216 4th Street East. Free will donations are gladly accepted.

Recycling for Multi-Family Buildings: Have you been struggling to recycle at your apartment, townhome, or condominium? A good, easy-to-use recycling system is a requirement at all multi-family buildings in Dakota County, but sometimes a little help is needed. Free resources are available from Dakota County. ISD 200 SEAC Meeting: The ISD 200 Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) will hold their Fall Meeting from 5 to 6 PM, on Tuesday, October 4th in Conference Room A of the ISD 200 Offices, 1000 11th Street West. The Special Services Department is looking for parents of students with disabilities to join the SEAC Team. ISD 200 intends to increase parent involvement and input in what Special Services look like for the District. The meeting will include a presentation regarding the Best Buddies International Program. HKS Community Partners Meeting:/B> Helping Kids Succeed Community Partners will hold their next meeting on Tues, Oct. 4th, from, 8:15 to 9:30 AM, at First Presbyterian Church, 602 Vermillion Street, in their Fellowship Hall. This coalition is an excellent chance to share information related to the young people in Hastings, including work your business or organization is doing in that area. There will be an update on educational activities this fall, specifically around opioids and illicit fentanyl.

October 5:

Oakwood Park Open House: The City of Cottage Grove has completed renovations at Oakwood Park and invites everyone to celebrate the renovations made to this historic park. Join Park staff on Wednesday, October 5 from 4-6 PM at Oakwood Park, 7851 Harkness Ave. S. to tour the new picnic shelter, play on the updated playground, relax in a hammock, or try your hand at disc golf. This will be a fun event for all ages.

St. Joe's Rosie Gil Presentation: St. Joseph Catholic Church, 23955 Nicolai Avenue in Miesville, invites everyone to an evening session to learn about the Case for Sainthood for Rosie Gil, presented by her husband, Robert, on Wednesday, October 5th. Mass is at 5 PM, supper at 5:30 and Robert's presentation will start at 6. Robert will share Rosie's writings on motherhood and family and speak about the need to restore Christian culture through faithful families. A free-will offering will be accepted.

TLC Banquet: Hastings TLC Pregnancy Center is hosting its 2022 Fundraising Banquet starting at 5 PM on Thursday, October 6th, at Almquist Farm, 21321 Polk Avenue, in Hastings. With guest speaker David L. Williams, you are invited to a meal catered by Tinucci's of Newport, and learn about healing after abortion, buidling strong families, and fatherhood. CGPD Open House: Join the Cottage Grove Police Department on Thursday, October 6 from 4 to 7 PM for their annual Open House. Visitors will be able to tour the facility, check out the vehicles and see all of the equipment used by officers in the line of duty. Children ages 3 to 6 and their parents or guardians can get hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, art projects, storytime, and more. Learn about raccoons, including myths and truths about these rowdy animals. Program Fee is $8 per youth and registration is required.

PHL Bring Your Own Book Club: Pleasant Hill Library announces a "Bring Your Own Book" Youth Club, meeting on Thursday, October 6th, from 6 to 7 PM, at the library. Pick a book and share. Unlike most book clubs where everyone reads the same thing, in this club you pick what to read based on the monthly theme. Registration required. Geared for youth ages 7-12.

Friends of Pleasant Hill Library Used Book Sale: The Friends of Pleasant Hill Library will hold their annual Used Book Sale from Friday, October 7th through Sunday, October 9th, with a "member's only" pre-sale, from 5 to 7 PM, on Thursday, October 6th. The sale will take donations of used books and other media (CDs, albums, etc) through October 1st for the sale. Sale hours are 9 AM to 4:30 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 3 PM on Sunday, which will also have a bag sale. Pleasant Hill Library is located at 1490 South Frontage Road, in Hastings.

Friday Night Music: The Hastings Downtown Business Association invites you to their Friday Night Music Series. Senior Center Birthday Bash: The Hastings Senior Center October Drive-By Birthday Bash is set for 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM, on Monday, October 10th. Center members who have a birthday in October are invited for a free meal of roast pork, mashed potatoes, veggies, a dinner roll and birthday cake. Other members can get a meal for $8, and non-members, $10. The Senior Center is located in the Tilden Community Center, 310 River Street, in Hastings.

HFD Open House: Fire Prevention Week is October 9th through the 15th this year, and the Hastings Fire and EMS Department will hold their annual Open House on Tuesday, October 11, 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Families are invited to come and see the trucks and other equipment HFD uses to respond to emergency situations in Hastings and the surrounding area.

PHL Crafternoon: Pleasant Hill Library invites teens to a "Crafternoon: Knitted Cuff/Cup Sleeve", from 3 to 6 PM, on Wednesday, October 12th, at Pleasant Hill Library, 1400 South Frontage Road in Hastings. Learn how to knit, or brush up your skills, by creating a one-of-a-kind cup sleeve or cuff! Get the basics of knits and purls, and take home a set of needles and yarn to continue knitting. FFD Open House: The Farmington Fire Department's annual Fire Prevention Open House is Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 5:30 PM, at Fire Station No. 2, 19695 Municipal Dr. The open house is free to attend. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the fire station and fire trucks. Sparky the Pup will be there for family pictures, and if weather permits, the Life Link helicopter and crew will be there.

October 13:

DARTS Party It Forward: DARTS 11th annual Party It Forward will be taking place on Thursday, October 13th, beginning at 6 PM. During the party, enjoy music from Miss Myra and the Moonshiners, a vintage jazz band local to the Twin Cities! The party also features an online auction, a live auction, games, specialty drinks, and food. Anyone can participate in the online auction, and there will also be an online video available for those unable to attend. RFD in the Park: Fire Prevention Week is October 9-15, and the Rosemount Fire Department invites everyone for some fun and learn how to keep your family safe at RFD in the Park, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, on Thursday, October 13th, at Central Park, 2893 145th Street West. The theme this year is "Fire Won't Wait. Plan Your Escape". This event is fun, interactive, and educational.

We Are Water MN: Dakota County Parks is hosting the "We Are Water MN" exhibit this fall, October 13th through December 5th at Pleasant Hill Library. We Are Water MN is a traveling exhibit where community members will learn about our connection to water in our local areas and throughout the state at an interactive display. The We Are Water exhibit will include personal stories from county residents, historical events, and scientific information such as conservation, water usage and pollution prevention. This event aims to strengthen visitors' relationships with water, share new perspectives, and increase awareness and participation in water protection activities. Learn more on the County website.

Hope Lutheran Christian Movie Night: Hope Lutheran church in Hastings is hosting a Christian Movie Night on Friday, October 14 starting at 6:30pm. Enjoy a movie and fellowship. Child care will be provided by the Hope Youth Group. There is no cost but free will donations will go to fundraising for the National Youth Gathering taking place in Texas in July. Senior Center Safety Seminar: On Friday, October 14th, at 9:30 AM, the Hastings Senior Center will host a monthly Safety Seminar with local law enforcement representatives. Fix-It Clinic: Get your broken fan, malfunctioning stereo or damaged shorts rescued by handy volunteers at the next monthly Dakota County Fix-It Clinic. Repair-savvy volunteers will guide residents through each step, from troubleshooting to completed repair. A Fix-It Clinic will be held on October 15, from noon to 3 PM, at Pleasant Hill Library, 1490 S. Frontage Road, in Hastings?. Bring up to three items that need fixing or mending. Bring tools or parts that you think might be helpful. Fix-It Clinics reduce unnecessary trash sent to landfills and teach residents helpful repair skills. Cottage Grove Fire Department Open House: The Cottage Grove Fire Department open house, at the Fire Station located at 8461 80th Street South, is on Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You'll be able to see kitchen fire demonstrations, take a station tour, hear Regions Hospital and Marathon Refinery talk about how they work together on the job and spray the fire hose to see what it feels like. Kids and adults can also take a whack with a sledge hammer at our whack-a-car this year!

Apple Pies At Joy: The congregation of Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott continues to support parishioners in Malawi, and are baking apple pies on Saturday, October 15th to raise funds for their efforts. Apple pie enthusiasts are asked to volunteer to help with pie production from 9 AM to noon. No experience is required and all ages are welcome. Joy Lutheran Church is located at

Ripe Radish Fall Fest: Ripe Radish Farm, 12414 191st Street East, in Hastings, invites everyone to their Fall Fest and Maker's Market, from 10 AM to 4 PM, on Saturday, October, 15th. Enjoy a fun-packed fall day on the farm! Highlights of the day include a local maker's market where you'll find one-of-a-kind handcrafted items to purchase for yourself or as cherished gifts. Comm Ed Fall Fest: The Hastings Community Education Fall Fest is scheduled from 9 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, October 15th, at the Tilden Community Center, 310 River Street. Come for craft vendors, "Make 'n Takes" and Door Prizes. Admission is free.

Farmington Mattress Drop-Off Day: The City of Farmington will host a drop-off day for mattresses and box springs on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 8 AM to noon at the Farmington Maintenance Facility, 19650 Municipal Drive. Mattresses and box springs will be accepted for $25 a piece. Only cash or checks will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to Certified Recycling. In addition to the mattress and box spring recycling, a mobile unit will be onsite for residents to shred their confidential documents. There is no charge to have documents shredded. No other items will be accepted. Proof of Dakota County residency will be required.

October 18:

Waggin' Tales: Waggin' Tales returns to Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, October 18th, from 11 AM to noon. Bring your kids, aged 5 to 10 years old into the Library to read to certified therapy dogs. It's not only fun, it helps develop reading skills and fluency. Pleasant Hill Library is located at 1490 South Frontage Road, in Hastings.

October 19:

Optimist Club Talk N Tacos: The Optimist Club of West St. Paul will host their 5th Talk N Tacos forum for candidates in the upcoming local elections. All confirmed candidates for Dakota County Attorney, Dakota County District 2 Commissioner, West St. Paul City Council, and West St. Paul Mayor have been invited to share their platforms and answer questions from the community at the event, held on October 19, beginning at 5:30 pm, at Dunham's Food and Drink, 173 Lothenbach Avenue in West St. Paul. Each candidate will have 10 minutes in which to communicate their platform and answer questions from the audience. The event will offer a taco bar with encouragement of a small donation for those eating. Beverages and other food will also be available for purchase during the evening. Prescott Food Pantry: The Prescott Area Food Pantry offering Prescott Area households Grade-A foods provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Prescott Area Food Pantry is an authorized food distributor in the Emergency Food Assistance Program and can now provide no-cost groceries for households that have incomes up to 300% of the federal poverty level. People who have lost jobs or income may obtain a monthly share of American-grown meat, vegetables, fruit, juice and more, through the new guidelines. The Prescott Area Food Pantry is located at 911 Pearl Street and is open Tuesday and Wednesdays from 9 AM until 2 PM and Thursdays from Noon until 5 PM. Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world using Global Positioning System (GPS) devices. Puzzle Exchange: Wednesday Puzzle Exchange and Cub Food Delivery will continue at the Tilden Community Center from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Masks must be worn while looking at puzzles or picking up baked goods. A table will be placed under the arch of Tilden's main doors with puzzles that you may take for your enjoyment. Please only touch the puzzle you will take and only 1 person at the table at a time. If you would like to drop off puzzles for the next week's exchange, please put them in the box under the table. DO NOT take those puzzles until they have been sanitized for the next week's exchange. Day old bread and baked goods from Cub are also available for pick up during this time. ***This event will take place, weather permitting. Bird Banding at CNC: Have you ever wondered what bird banding is all about? Bird Banding records can help us learn how long birds live, where they travel, when and where they migrate and many other interesting facts. Carpenter Nature Center has been banding birds for over 30 years. On the fourth Friday of the month, from 8 AM to noon, bird banding is open to the public. Badger Box Distribution: Prescott community members who are in need are invited to monthly Badger Box Distribution events on the fourth Friday of the month, through the end of the year.
