Glo phyto active conditioning oil

Ingredients in a product's ingredient list are listed in the order of highest concentration to lowest concentration. We have analysed the first 7 ingredients because in most products concentration is quite low after the seventh ingredient. Products don't reveal their formulation methodology. In the absence of that, the best way to analyse a product is by understanding what the ingredients do. Our team has put in hours of research and study into each ingredient. The information is accurate to the best of our knowledge. The product image used is from the company's website. The ingredients listed matched with what's on packaging at the time of us updating our database. Some of the ingredients might have changed since our last update.

Squalane

Softens and smoothens skin (emollient). It is present in our skin's sebum in a slightly different version. Sebum forms a thin layer on skin's surface and helps skin in its barrier function (the barrier prevents water loss and fights external aggressors). Skin recognises squalane as one of its own and allows it to permeate quickly. Feels light on skin.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil

Rich in wax esters. Wax esters play a key role in skin barrier function. The top layer of skin acts as a barrier. This barrier prevents water loss and protects skin from external aggressors. If barrier is weakened, skin becomes dehydrated, dry and prone to breakouts. This ingredients helps in stregthening a weakened skin barrier. Also an emollient. Softens and smoothens skin by filling in the rough patches and gaps on the surface of the skin. Does not clog pores. Light on skin. There is a lot of variability in the benefits of plant extracts - their effect on skin depends on where & how they were grown and how they were extracted.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil

Common name Argan oil. Softens and smoothens skin (emollient). When used with other active ingrdients in the product, it can help the actives to get to the deeper layers of skin. Fights free radicals (antioxidant). Free radicals age the skin. UV rays, pollution, smoking, poor nutrition are some of the reasons for free radical formation. There is a lot of variability in the benefits of plant extracts - their effect on skin depends on where & how they were grown and how they were extracted.

Glycerin

It is a humectant. Humectants are like sponges. They bind themselves to water. When applied on the skin surface, they draw water either from the atmosphere or from the deeper layers of skin to the top layer of the skin. Humectants fill up the space between cells on top layer of skin. By filling up the space in-between cells, they keep the cells firm and also strengthen the skin barrier function of skin (a strong barrier reduces water loss through evaporation from skin and protects skin from attacks by external irritants). Keeps skin hydrated, plump and firm.

Polysorbate 20

Rinses away oil and dirt. Cleanses skin. Helps oil based ingredients in the product to mix with the water based ingredients in the product. Brings unlike ingredients together (emulsifier).

Globularia Cordifolia Callus Culture Extract

Reduces redness, calms and soothes skin (anti-inflammatory). There is a lot of variability in the benefits and composition of plant extracts - their effect on skin depends on where & how they were grown and how the ingredient was extracted.

Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water

Reduces redness, calms and soothes skin (anti-inflammatory). Cleanses skin, tightens pores and reduces the appearance of oil on skin (astringent). Astringents give a drying effect to the skin. Witch hazel used by some products can have alcohol in it. Alcohol can cause dryness.
