The agent at the desk scared me into buying the tolls coverage even though there were no tolls where I was driving. I spent about 30 minutes going through all the phone trees trying to get this corrected. Disappointed in the lack of service in the phone trees and an agent lying to me. Finally got it fixed at the desk at the airport. I was lucky as I had time before my flight. Find it discouraging that someone behind the counter would lie.Reviewed Oct 11 2022

I ended up using Dollar after Hertz canceled my my reservation on my pick-up date because they didn't have a car available. My rental with Dollar went smoothly and a clean, low mileage vehicle was ready for me at the pick-up appointment.Reviewed Oct 4 2022

I made reservations through Kayak and then called their customer support line to confirm my rental. I made sure they understood that the drop off location was different from the pick up. They confirmed and even helped me change the pick up time. I arrived to pick up the rental and they did not have any cars and said they wouldn't have any for a couple of days. I asked if they could help me in anyway or find an alternate location because I needed to get home to my daughter and had three flights cancel the days before. She told me they had a car BUT i had to produce a return plane ticket for that car. I wasn't coming back.. clearly because the drop off location was different. The woman was rude and unapologetic. I was stranded and had to stay at the car rental center for about 8 hours until I was able to find different ways to get home. I will absolutely never ever do that again.Reviewed Aug 16 2022

I booked my car with my master card and at the counter the person helping me miss typed my card number and i kept telling him he had the wrong number but he insisted that my card was no good and wanted my debit card.. was stuck arguing with him for over two hours for a car i booked months in advance.Reviewed May 24 2022

I showed up to pick up my rental and was turned away because they said they were closing even though it was not closing time yet. The worker said I could cancel online. I tried and could not. The first 3 cars I chose, I could not check out because they needed oil changes. The staff was rude, and refused to take blame that they didn’t service their cars in time. My trip was delayed as a result of it. I had to choose the car I didn’t want. I wound up wasting more money on gas and being uncomfortable. The car wasn’t even cleaned prior to being checked out. When we arrived they said they don’t have the car for us and we need to pay more to get another car
 after we refused to pay more then they said oh we have the car ready. They said the gas tank is 7/8 full and must bring it back the same otherwise will be charged $200 but when we got to the car it was only 1/4 full
 try to call them but it would go to machine and no one we could talk to
 the car’s USB didn’t work and we couldn't charge our phone while driving 
 never again

I reserved a sedan (family of 4 adults- 4 door car) to drive from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City, Utah, from sept. 1 to sept. 11. 2022. When I went to the Dollar Office in Las Vegas they had a coupe car (2 door) for me. To upgrade my reservation, they told me it would cost $10.00 extra per day. I paid in advance for the car rental $368.28 for 10 days in Aug. 06. With the upgrade I ended paying $471.83 extra charge for a total of $840.11 My advice: never rent a car with a third party company like Kayak and the service with Dollar Rent-a-car was awful and mediocre.Reviewed 13 Sep. 2022

Is dollar or enterprise better?

Dollar is "business class" and Enterprise is leisure. Supposedly Dollar then should have newer, better vehicles. However, overall ratings of all the rental car companies according to Forbes Magazine, has Enterprise rated number 1. That said, I'd go with the cheapest price.
