Hello, I have a 2011 Gen1. I have a code P219A that shows as "Historical" using torque Pro. I changed the O2 sensor about 7 days ago, drove the car to work and all around town. I've tried mountain mode, not charging and going into low propulsion unit I get the 20% battery to back to hybrid. I've tried resetting the light driving 25MPH for more than 8 minutes then idling for 30 seconds and then shutting car off. The CEL turns off for a while then just turns back on sometime later. Anyone ever won this battle?

that is a code for air/fuel imbalance amongst the cylinders, not really an indicator of a bad O2 sensor. Might be more likely caused by a fuel or air delivery imbalance. Maybe a faulty injector? Just a guess.

Well I had a friend who is a diesel mechanic use his computer and it didn't find any fault codes. He retimed the injectors (whatever that means). He also ran an air fuel balance test or calibration (something like that). Those were the two tuning items his computer could do. I was thinking vacuum leak maybe? the idle is smooth and the high RPMs seem a little rough but I'm not sure. Is there a good way to test injectors at home?

Are you not charging the battery with an EVSE ? Using the Volt as a hybrid? That could be dangerous with a 10 years old HV battery. Common advice is to always leave the Volt plugged in.

It's normally plugged in after every trip. Just trying to keep the ICE running for some time to help clear the codes by getting ICE run time. The problem is the P219A code that hasn't cleared after a week of "normal" type driving. Don't want to have to go to the dealer for a code clear. Was hoping someone else has had this problem to resolve.

P219A is a Type A code, which means it latches on until cleared by the the proper GDS2 shenanigans. No amount of normal driving cycles will turn it off. Which means dealer visit or buy a VCX Nano, install the accompanying software on a supporting laptop, subscribe to the appropriate service using your VIN and get comfy with wielding all of that to good effect.

Is a type A code something a non-dealer shop can clear or is it a dealer only thing? This is the first I have heard of a type "A" code??

As I mentioned in my post about how you could clear it, a non-dealer shop can ALSO buy all the stuff needed to do module reprogramming, which includes the function for resetting the latching (Type A) codes. I can't promise either way that any given shop will or won't have the capacity already, or whether they'd be willing to.

I had P219A a year or two ago. Replaced the valve cover that has the integrated PCV. Reduced vacuum leaks and cleared problem.

I am pretty sure I cleared the code with my little Bluetooth plug in OBD tool.

I had seen something about the valve cover leaking PCV. I will look into that this weekend. I have an appointment at the Chevy dealer next week to start at $165 just to look into it. I was hoping to find a solution before then. I will check into the engine and let you all know what I find.

The imbalance is measured by the front 02 sensor. I might take a chance with replacing that

Well so far I have replaced the upstream O2 sensor, sparkplugs and the valve cover. Still have a P219A code and now a P0606 code has appeared. Removed the negative battery cable and grounded the positive for an hour and then tried to clear the codes to no avail. Seems to drive ok have a dealer appointment in a week maybe the codes will clear by then or I can clear my credit limit😭.

Here was the "official" diagnosis:
No faults were detected on vehicle. Possible that the fuel injector is becoming restricted or failing,
but AFIT test (for fuel injectors) passed showing no issues. We recommend doing a fuel system service
to remove possible build up in fuel injector and to maitenence fuel system.

After inspecting your vehicle, O Rielly Chevrolet Inc recommends additional services be completed.

They wanted $220 for this service. Said it was optional and that there was no diagnostic codes on the car. Literally
drove 3.5 miles from the dealer home and the check engine light came on again. Code P219A still there. They charged $165
for the diagnostic. At least its good for 90 days I don't have to pay the diagnostic again. So needless to say I drove it directly
back to the dealer and told them to fix it. Lets see what they come up with next.

What are the chances of a buyback??

Sarcasm is hard to interpret on the internet, I assume you must be joking? No manufacturer buys back an eleven year old car because it’s broken, even if they can’t figure what is wrong with it.

How serious is P219A code?

The trouble code P219A can be defined as Bank 1 Air/Fuel Ratio Imbalance. This code is a generic trouble code, meaning it applies to all vehicles equipped with the OBD-II system, especially those made from 1996 up to present.

What is a bank 1 air fuel ratio imbalance?

Air-fuel ratio cylinder imbalance is a condition where the air-fuel ratio in one or more cylinders is different than the other cylinders. When air-fuel ratio cylinder imbalance occurs in one or more cylinders the fuel delivery system is unable to maintain a proper vehicle emission level.

How do I fix my P219B code?

How To Correct P219B Bank 2 Air/Fuel Ratio Imbalance.
Rehabilitate the defaults in the oxygen sensor/s..
The malfunctioning fuel pump should be repaired or replaced as per the need..
Make sure to mend the blocked fuel filter..
It is essential to fix the leakage in the engine vacuum..
Repair the leakages in the engine exhaust..

How do I fix code P1174?

In this case, the fix is as simple as replacing your O2 sensor, which costs about $50 and can be DIY'd easily. After replacing your O2 sensor, if you continue to receive P1174 or P1175 engine codes, you should check your MAF and try cleaning or replacing that.
