Many of the Asian airlines require you to present the credit card used for the booking when you check in. You can sometimes resolve this by giving your son a scan of the card used, otherwise you may need to pop in to a UK office of the airline to show them the card. If you book on BA, there is an option to tick a box to indicate that the cardholder is not travelling, so this issue does not arise. I buy tickets to bring family over from Phoenix white regularly, and never had an issue. Report inappropriate content

Re: Booking tickets for someone else in another country 8 years ago Save <<Many of the Asianairlines require you to present the credit card used for the booking when you check in>> Most airlines I have flown with or bought tickets for my family out of Singapore Changi airport don't ask for credit card at check in, including Singapore Airlines, ANA, United and Turkish Airlines. Just make sure the ticket carries the same name as in passport, particularly if there is any Asian name involved, Report inappropriate content

Re: Booking tickets for someone else in another country 8 years ago Save I bought my daughter a ticket to travel home from Australia with Etihad and no questions were asked. When tickets were booked on SingaporeAirlines we had to send a copy of the card and my passport to Singapore Airlines along with a letter confirming that I authorised the purchase of the tickets Report inappropriate content
SebastianD Dallas, Texas Level 6. Re: Booking tickets for someone else in another country 8 years ago Save You need to be sure that you have their names exactly as spelled on their passports. When I've done this, I've also had to provide the passport number & other passport details, including date of expiration. Oneairline (South African) required that I email copy of front/back of credit card & my driver's license or passport. Report inappropriate content

Re: Booking tickets for someone else in another country 8 years ago Save For these cases (booking aflight for someone else) using a reputable full service travel agent can often be the safest bet. The airlines require that the passenger show the credit card used to book the ticket as a fraud protection measure, But that's only for flights booked directly with them as they are assuming the risk of the card being used fraudulently. With travel agent bookings it's the agent that's assuming the risk so the airline doesn't require that the CC be shown. The agent may require card verification (which is why you can be asked to send a copy of both sides of the card), but if you use a local full service agent you'd be producing the card when you paid. Wiring your son the money to book himself is also a good means to get him the ticket, as long as he actually spends the money on booking the flight. :-) Report inappropriate content

We used to buy tickets for the kids to come visit at various times (and still do on occasions). It would have been easier for sure for them to do it. But I was worried once they got the money it was easier to find reasons not to come, or they don't knowhow/ and procrastinate and now the fares are not reasonable at all. |
