You may think it’s impossible, but you can move a mountain. Show
Not with your hands per se, but with a strong mind and believing words. You can say come, and it happens. Likewise, you can say go, and it will happen. Interestingly, you do not need so much power to do this. Jesus says, “if your faith is the size of a mustard seed, you can command a tree to be uprooted, and it will obey.” This is simply Faith, but it is more complicated than that. Faith encompasses your life as a Christian and is needed for your everyday activity, even in hard times. In fact, if you don’t have Faith, there is surely no way you can please God. So, what is Faith then? Paul describes Faith as things not seen or things being hoped for, yet believed. In simple words, Faith means absolute trust in God’s power and his word A few weeks back, A young lady was rushed into the hospital for an emergency caesarian section. I work in a rural facility with a massive shortage of basic medical facilities and blood supplies. But surgery had to be done urgently. Immediately after the surgery, she had complications. I was surprised because I thought everything went well. She needed an urgent blood transfusion, but it was not readily available. So I had no choice but to make myself available as a donor. Yet, she kept bleeding. Surgically removing the uterus was not an option as the husband declined. So, I paused for a second, prayed, and believed. And that was it. The bleeding miraculously stopped. She was discharged about a week later. So, What’s my point? No matter the situation, you must be ready and prepared. Your Faith is the only tool for reassurance in hard times. Bible verses about Faith in hard times1. Matthew 21:22 – Through Faith God answers our prayers
We all pray as Christians. We believe that our complaints, challenges, and praises can be revealed to God through prayers. We believe that the only possible way to communicate directly with God is through prayer. But let us pause for a second and think. It is so much Faith to believe that through prayers, we are communicating with a supernatural invisible being. Unbelievers can’t understand why you are just moving your lips, singing praises to God, or entering his gates with thanksgiving. But as true believers, we know that God hears our prayers through Faith. No one can underestimate the power of prayers. When I kneel in my room to pray, I feel the comfort of a close friend and believe that God will work out something in no time. Jesus is reminding us that without having Faith in the power of God, our prayer may not be answered. He further said in the book of Luke 11:8-10
2. Romans 10:16-17 – Faith comes through hearing
No one is born with Faith. We all are born into this world to make the right choices for ourselves. Through hearing the word of God, we believe that God exists. Think about Abel in the bible. Abel is often described as the first faithful man on earth. Why? Because he saw the powers of God firsthand and believed that God must be so great. He did not have any bible or prophet to tell him God existed. He also did not see any miracle manifesting right before his eyes. But he must have seen God’s power firsthand. When his parents (Adam and Eve) were driven from the garden of Eden, God protected the garden with several angelic beings. He must have seen those angels and wondered how powerful God was. Then, he must have seen the earth and imagined the powerful nature of God. This means, accepting faith starts from our hearts. On hearing the word of God, we must let it sink in. We must try to appreciate the powerful nature of God. If we don’t, we may not fully grasp the power of God. Paul said;
3. Hebrews 11:6 – bible verse to show you can not please God without Faith
We’ve already deduced that Faith is complete trust in the power of God. But we’ve not answered the questions, IS it possible to serve God without believing that he exists in the first place? Think about unbelievers around you. They do not believe that God exists. They are unknowledgeable about the powers of God. They ask all sorts of quest like; If God exists, why does he allow the wicked to live? If God exists, why does he let the righteous be persecuted? These are not words of Faith but Gross unbelief in the existence of God. If you don’t accept that God exists, there is no way you can believe that he has immeasurable powers. Paul is reminding us that we are favored to believe in the powers of God. That we have an opportunity to please God because we’ve already accepted that he exists and is so powerful. If you’re still doubtful about God’s existence and power, you can never please him. However, God is willing to accept you if you believe in him. If you love him, God loves you too.
4. Mark 11:22-24 – Faith can move mountains
Sometimes we do not understand that we can do the impossible through Faith. As a result, we tend to limit ourselves through our natural eyes and thoughts. Jesus did so many miracles in the bible. He healed the sick. He walked on top of the water without sinking. He did all wonders through Faith. Likewise, God works through Faith. He built the world from nothing through Faith. Paul said;
Remember the book of Genesis when God created the universe. He just said those powerful words through Faith, and it was so. God said, let there be light, and there was light. These are the power of Faith. Jesus is saying that if you believe in the powers of God, you can tell a mountain move, and it will move before your eyes. 5. Ephesians 2:8-9 – Faith is a gift verse
If you have Faith, it is not your power but a gift from God. Think about the story of Cain and Abel again. They both lived in a world where they had no tutors of God’s word or commandments. Yet, Abel had the gift of Faith. Through this gift, he recognized that God must be so powerful. Just as Faith is a gift, our calling to serve God is a gift also. Jesus said, no one can come unto him except the Father draws him.
6. 2 Corinthians 5:7
Through Faith, we do not believe in the things of this world, but instead, we believe in him that created the world. We do not walk as natural men do, but we hope in what is not yet seen. For instance, before fully accepting God into my life, I couldn’t believe someone would say, “I can never be sick.” I thought this was the wrong thing to say and wondered why anyone would say that. But that’s the power of Faith. You believe in it, hope for it, and know that God will make it happen through Faith. Therefore, Faith is a necessity in the service of God.
7. John 3:16 – Faith brings salvation
We cannot deny that God loves us so much. He loves us even before we were created. Because of this love, he sent his only begotten son to die for our sins. But, we cannot just be saved because Christ died for us. We must believe, through Faith, that Christ is the savior of the world. In verse 18, Jesus said;
8. James 2:14-26 – Faith without work is dead verse
Having Faith in God means that we must act like him. God is love, and if we must serve him, we must learn to show love to those around us. Jesus said;
If we say we have Faith, it should not just be mere words. We must prove it through our actions. First of all, we are must be obedient to the works of the lord. We must run away from sin and live righteously to the glory of God. Next, we must show love to those around us by supporting the poor, widow, fatherless, and strangers. If we do this, we are serving God through Faith and works. Frequently asked questions about Faith.1. Bible verses about Faith and love1 Peter 4:8
