(February 17, 2015) - Center Grove High School's Sound System varsity show choir (pictured at right) for won Grand Champion in the Mixed Division at the Pike Music Fest on Saturday, February 14, 2015. They also took home caption awards for Most Creative Show Design and Best Visual. Senior, Lauren Raker was named Best Performer. Junior, Katie Swaney won Grand Champion in the Solo competition, earning her a full ride scholarship to the SCA Show Choir Camp held this summer.

The Debtones (pictured bottom right) took home Grand Champion honors in the Unisex Division. They also collected caption awards for Most Creative Show and Best Vocals. Senior, Rachel Slevin, was named Best Performer. Freshman, Haley Burgh placed 3rd runner up in the Solo competition.

Center Grove’s Varsity Concert Choir, CG Singers, received First Runner-Up, among nine talented concert choirs from around the state. This was CG Singers first concert choir competition this year.

The Center Grove choirs are directed by Jennifer Dice and Jared Norman, choreographed by Andy Haines, assisted by Jeff Goodspeed and accompanied by Greg Sanders.

The next show is the Ben Davis Giant Spectacular, Saturday, February 21.

A Rich Tradition of Excellence

The Counterpoints, under the direction of Michael Berg Raunick since 2013, are an auditioned mixed choir of 55 members and are nationally recognized as both a premier concert and show choir. They have performed at four Central Division ACDA Conferences, 1 National NAfME Conference, and 1 National ACDA Conference. The Counterpoints were named the Indiana State School Music Association’s top concert choir 15 of the last 30 years and top show choir 10 of the last 14 years, including being named the 2015, 2016 & 2018 ISSMA Show Choir State Champions. In 2015 the Counterpoints presented a concert tour in France, and were asked to be the guest performers at the National Education Foundation’s gala ball in Washington, D.C. During the 2017-2018 school year, the choir celebrated it’s 60th anniversary and participated in Showchoir Nationals at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, taking home a Grand Championship victory!
