Where are the 10 best places to buy cheap Ray-Ban sunglasses? Online, at the airport, or perhaps it is even worth flying to a destination to buy cheap brand name sunglasses?

Yess, it’s the time of year when you start thinking about your sunglasses for the summer. Perhaps you are hoping that restrictions will have been lifted so that you can book an international holiday in the sunshine and want to look the part by the pool? Or perhaps you want a nice pair to wear on a bright day closer to home.

It looks likely that pubs and restaurants with alfresco areas and outdoor spaces, will be open by the summer, so you will need a nice pair of sunnies to look fabulous, wherever you are able to go.

So what to choose? Aviators or Wayfarers? Ultra-small or ultra-large lenses? Futuristic wrap-around styles or old fashioned movie star sunglasses with big black frames? Whatever style you choose it’s hard not to be impressed with a pair of glasses with the classic Ray-Ban logo.

Ray-Ban has made iconic sunglasses since 1937 and it is best known for its Wayfarer and Aviator lines. They are excellent at producing stylish, funky shades that are worn by everyone from cultural icons to celebs. As well as their current collections, you can also customize your own Ray-Bans on their website and create one-of-a-kind sunglasses just for you, not quite so mainstream after all.

Here’s our guide to the 10 best places to buy Ray-Bans.

1. Ray Ban online

The Ray-Ban online shop is excellent and can even provide you with prescription sunnies complete with the Ray Baan logo. Of course, this is not the cheapest place to buy Ray-Bans but you are guaranteed the latest styles and authenticity.

I actually have 3 pairs of Ray-Bans. One pair are metallic aviators bought in duty free, and one pair of pink-hued pair of aviators bought in the hotel gift shop when I forgot my sunglasses on holiday. I purchased the third pair online with prescription lenses. I love my pair of Jackie Ohh sunglasses. They start at around £175 GBP.

2. At The Airport

Duty-Free shops at the airport used to be a way to beat the system. By buying your Ray-Bans at the airport, you can often take advantage of “Duty-Free”-style benefits.

3. Asia

While it’s rarely worth paying for an airfare to fly to a destination with cheaper Ray-Bans, if you are traveling to a country with a cheap currency, you might find that your genuine Ray-Bans are cheaper abroad than they are at home. If you want a great luxury hotel deal, book via our luxury travel concierge.

4. Other Online Shops

Shop around! You sometimes find better deals on sunglasses at online retailers that are not part of Ray-Ban. Just make sure that the shop has good reviews and that you are sure that your new Ray-Bans are genuine.

5. Second Hand

Howl… Please be very careful if you consider buying new or used sunglasses from eBay. Unless you are an expert, it’s hard to know whether the sunglasses you buy are genuine. This is a gamble, and you could be gambling with a large amount of cash.

6. At Your Hotel

sunglasses are almost always more expensive in the hotel gift shop, but I bought my last pair at the hotel gift shop as I left mine at home by accident.

7. With Points

If you have an American Express card or other loyalty based credit cards, you may be able to redeem your points for a pair of Ray-Bans.

8. Earning Points

By using your Amex card and also cash-back or point-back websites like the BA store, you may be able to collect bonus points and miles when you buy your Ray-Bans. For example, some online shops offer more points (like Selfridges) than others, particularly during sale periods, so it is worth checking that you are maximizing your point collecting while making your purchase.

9. Amex offer

The American Express platinum card offers sporadic specials at certain shops eg, spend £150 and get 20% off. Some of these shops also sell Ray-Bans. If you have an Amex card, it is easy to get a cheap pair of Ray-Bans by taking advantage of these offers.

10. Cheaper Styles

Inevitably some Ray-Ban styles are cheaper than others. If you aren’t fussed on the style, pick a cheaper style to maximize the “band for your buck.” After all, they all come with the same Ray-Ban logo.

Dominated by the same aviator- and Wayfarer-inspired designs, the sunglasses market can seem a bit uninspired at times. If you’ve been yearning for a frame that breaks from the status quo, consider a style from Saint Laurent. The Parisian fashion house offers a range of distinct sunglasses, all crafted in Italy. From a combination acetate-metal Clubmaster style to a chunky acetate silhouette, these well-made shades are anything but bland. And now at Nordstrom Rack, some of these sunglasses are up to 76 percent off while supplies last — that’s means each pair is just $120.

How can you tell if Ray

Check the frame Look for the words "Made in Italy" or "Made in China" or the letters CE (although these are not present on all models) on the right inner temple. If you buy prescription Ray-Ban glasses, the logo is on the inside right temple.
