2023 low rider s forward controls

Harley-Davidson is probably one of the biggest motorcycle companies in the world. Founded in 1903 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, it is one of two major motorcycle manufacturers that survived the Great Depression. From the day the first Harley-Davidson was put on sale, they have cemented themselves as a dominant motorcycle manufacturer, and they are still going strong in 2022, with the release of the 2022 Harley-Davidson Low Rider S and Low Rider ST.

Harley-Davidson have rejuvenated one of their top-selling cruisers ready for the 2022 riding season. Its great looks, high power and very reasonable price tag makes the new releases irresistible. With their lean styles and great looks as well as the amps up on the sports side of things, it really makes these bikes a must-have cruiser. Both beasts offer up the most powerful factory installed engines offered by Harley-Davidson. If you are looking for an aggressive style with a sports bike’s agility and handling, and you are a rebel seeking a classic West Coast style, then the Harley-Davidson Low Rider S and ST models are certainly the bikes that you are looking for.

How Much Has The Engine Been Revamped On The Low Rider S?

The revamped engine on the 2022 models come as the biggest change. Previously the bike had a 1,868cc engine, but this has been pumped up to 1,923cc, giving it a significant boost in power and torque. Jumping from 90 hp to 105 hp and what a big-bore V-twin is all about, the torque has increased from 112 lb-ft to 125 lb-ft. But the top torque output is achieved at a slightly higher number of revs, coming in at 3,500 rpm in comparison to the previous 3,250 rpm. The capacity hike is joined by cams, and a revised air intake that is said to boost the mid-range of the engine. The new and improved design of the filter and inlet resembles the design of the now discontinued FXDR.

The new 2022 Low Rider S has a slightly lifted rear end, with the addition of a slightly taller shock absorber which increases the bike’s ground clearance from 120mm to 145mm, lifting the seat from 673mm to 686mm, but more importantly increasing the lean angle by 1 degree. For the new 2022 Low Rider S, it sees a new analogue LCD combination design, and it sees the clock shifted from the tank to the handlebars. The easier to read consoles places the gauge closer to the rider’s eye line, while the textured black tank is now finished with FXLRS branding on top.

What Does The ST Model Offer That The S Model Doesn’t?

In short, not much! The 2022 Low Rider ST model is in many ways just like the S model but has more miles in its sights. From chassis and engine perspective the two bikes are pretty much identical, it has the same 105 hp and 125 lb-ft of maximum torque. What is new and different on the ST model is the addition of a stylish front fairing SoCal stance, which means the panniers sit high on the subframe and the bike's rear suspension gives the bike a souped-up look. The FXRT inspired fairing is frame-mounted on the front end of the bike, while the handlebars sit high. Triple split-stream vents are used to help limit rider head buffeting at higher speeds. With the shape of the ST model’s front fairing being designed by using computational fluid dynamics backed up by on-road testing.

How Similar Are The S and ST Models?

As the outgoing S and ST model, both bikes offer a deep singular seat, mid-mounted foot controls, and a color matched mini speed screen. The styling of both bikes is a typical good-looking West Coast cruiser, while the engine and exhaust are completely blacked out, cast-aluminum wheels being finished in matte dark bronze to contrast the rest of the bike. Again, the bikes are very similar when it comes to engine, frame and chassis set up, while both bikes are available in Vivid black and Gunship gray. One of the very few differences is that the ST model has been designed to have slightly longer mileage for lengthier rides due to the addition of a new batwing front fairing.

With both bikes sitting in the middle of the H-D cruiser range, it seems as though both bikes are identical, meaning that the S model’s starting price of $18,349 seems like a much better investment than the ST’s starting price of $21,749. It’s a considerable amount of extra money for very little extra bike, although the starting price of both bikes especially the S model seem like very reasonable prices for a great looking and reasonably powerful mid-engine cruiser!
