2022 chrysler pacifica wont start

The 2004 Chrysler Pacifica was the first model year for this vehicle. The Pacifica is considered a crossover, between a sedan and a sport-utility vehicle. In 2004, only one trim level of the Pacifica was produced. If you run across an issue with the Pacifica starting properly, there are a couple of things that you can troubleshoot at home before looking into the possibility of more expensive repairs.

Show

Step 1

Check your battery. If your battery is more than three or four years old, it may need replacing. If it's a newer battery, it may have become drained and needs to be recharged. To check your battery, turn the key in the ignition to the "On" position, but don't try to start the Pacifica. Try to turn on the lights or the windshield wipers. If they don't come on, your battery is dead or drained. Open up the hood on your Pacifica and look at the battery cable connections. In many cases, corrosion, rust or even dirt will cause a bad connection to the battery. Clean off the battery with a rag if possible. If the corrosion is bad, you may need to chisel some of it off before attempting to clean it.

Step 2

Check out your dash. With the key still in the "On" position, look at the dash of your Pacifica to see if it's alerting you to a specific issue. It may have a gas light, oil light or check-engine light that's letting you know that it has detected a problem. Never drive a car that has no gas or oil, as you could cause severe damage.

Step 3

Turn the key in the ignition. If you hear a clicking noise, this indicates that the starter has gone bad and will need to be replaced. If the starter works and the car starts for a brief moment, listen for a knocking noise or examine whether you feel a jerking movement. Jerking indicates that you're low on fuel and may not have a gas gauge that's working properly to alert you to this. A knocking noise can indicate a bigger problem within the engine of your Pacifica and will need to be further diagnosed.

1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

The vehicle stalls out while actively driving it down the road on a city street. The vehicle stops mid driving, immediately shuts off, loses all power, and engages park by itself. The vehicle then fails to restart and leaves driver stranded in unsafe conditions. Happened the first time driving 40mph down a city road. Driver was almost rear ended. After 20 mins driver was able to get it started again only to have it happen half a mile down the road. Had the vehicle towed by Chrysler to the nearest dealership. They found no stored errors and said nothing was wrong. They installed a flight recorder in the vehicle and we picked it up yesterday. 10 miles away from the dealership while driving on another city road the vehicle again shut itself off while driving, had a complete loss of power, and locked itself into park mode and wouldn't restart. This time had my entire family and two young children in the car trapped in the middle on a busy intersection. Vehicle was then towed again to the same dealership and they claim the flight recorder didn't pick up anything. A claim has been opened up with fca headquarters and again no one is assisting in this issue. This is a huge safety concern and needs to be addressed.

2 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

My car is 3-4 months old. Around 7k in miles on it. This afternoon car did not started, start button was showing as run created a kind of chaos in terms seems the like car is ready to run showing all run signals but was not running, happened in a parking lot so I was confused what state should I leave the car in as not able able to shut down the car & dont know whether it will start running by himself, switched on the parking breaks just to make sure it does just start running & ruins someones car, it was kind of scary. More scary things happened when the towing truck guys showed up to drive the car to dealer. He was trying to figure out where is the button to put the car in neutral, called dealership no one knew, looked at a video where it showed there is a small box under steering which has a ribbon to pull to move the car to neutral mode. When the towing driver opened that space there was no ribbon. These are part of safety issues with the car, tis time it happened in a parking lot if it would have happened on the live road this would have been disastrous.

4 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

On September 16, 2019 near 10 am my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was parked in family garage since the 13th without being driven. The key fob didn't work and no power was available to start or accessories. An attempt was made to jump it with cables from my wife's car and it would not start. Tow was request to near by Dodge dealer jack phelan in countryside, ill. Early afternoon two different tow truck companies were summoned and they both were unsuccessful in jumping it. After two days they stated the batteries were defective and both needed replacement. Still under warranty otherwise cost was given as over $600. 00.

5 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

At least 6 times in the past 8 months the vehicle has failed to start. It behaves as if both batteries are dead. After using a trickle charger I can get the car to start. It's been returned to the dealer numerous times. Each time they report that they charged the batteries and everything is fine and Chrysler will not let them replace either battery since "no error code is reported". Supposedly they checked the charging system as well as looked for a parasitic draw and found nothing. We are afraid to use the vehicle lest we get stuck far from home. In desperation I replaced the main battery at my expense. In all cases the problem occurred when the vehicle was parked in our drive. Some cases overnight and others after returning from an errand run.

6 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

On 05-11-2019 my 2018 (purchased Nov. 2018) Chrysler Pacifica touring l plus van was stationary in my driveway (7,000 miles). Vehicle would not start. Vehicle began giving erratic dash displays, for example it advised that the car was not in park. It advised that the gear shift need service. Despite not ever turning on, the vehicle as clearly having a complete electrical meltdown. The windshield wipers engaged. Then none of the buttons on the fob, nor in the car were responding. Within a few minutes the entire car died. No electrical response. Had it towed to dealership today. Waiting to hear on diagnosis.

7 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Vehicle started having issues starting, the vehicle would not start once the start button was pushed. Once it did start and put into reverse or drive the vehicle would not move. I would have to turn the vehicle off, and on again several times before it would start. The vehicle would shut off and then turn back on while on the interstate whenever speed was reduced. The headlights would spontaneously shut off at night while driving, and could not be turned back on. The inside dash lights would also turn off making for a very unsafe situation. The air control also did not work properly. It would be very hot at 68 degrees, and would not blow a steady flow of air. It will speed up then slow down.

8 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

While pressing the gas going from 1st to 2nd gear the vehicle makes a sudden jerking motion almost stalling, transmission issues since purchased. Back passenger sliding door has not always closed successfully, since purchase, causing safety concerns. Vehicle will not start all the time without unplugging the "brain". Gear shift light is not always on. Brakes have had to be replaced due to an air intake issue.

9 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Several times while driving, the car has lost all electrical power. Car was purchased new in may 2016. 1) when driving at approx 50mph, the vehicle lost all internal power - radio, lights, gauges, etc. Braking and steering were unaffected. Pulled over and shut off vehicle. After 5 minutes, restarted normally. In response to this, the dealer replaced the instrument cluster. This was the first incident, occurring summer 2017. 2) when driving in a parking lot, approx 10mph, the vehicle lost all power and came to an abrupt stop. Passengers were disturbed and concerned, but not injured. After a few minutes, the vehicle restarted normally. 3) when idling (stopped) in a drive-thru line, the car lost all power. No controls in the vehicle worked, nor did the keyfob. Car would not restart. Driver opened and re-closed the vehicle door, at which time the vehicle restarted with a quick succession of error messages on the instrument cluster regarding the liftgate and other systems. This is the most recent incident, occurring 30-April-2018. This is a safety concern, making us hesitant and scared to drive the vehicle. Please help.

10 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

I was passing a slow moving motor home on state road 19 ocala national forest . In the middle of my pass the engine cut off. I had enough speed to finish my pass safely and pull to the side of road. All the panel lights were flashing and the car would not restart. I called roadside assistance Chrysler and after four hours the vehicle was towed to the nearest Chrysler dealer. The car has been at beck palatka florida, Chrysler since April first. They informed after five days that they were not equipped to handle repairs because of the new technology on this vehicle. I have now been informed that I will have to pay for towing from dealer in palatka to the st. Augustine dealer. I feel concern for my safety driving this new Chrysler hybrid if it can be repaired. We could have had loss of life had another vehicle struck our vehicle approaching head on. I had no acceleration in the middle of my passing, and with my wife and grandchildren in the car, this situation could have been tragic. My case number is 33839387 and I have been informed that it is going to be transferred to another person! please advise as to my next step in this process.

11 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

The car failed to start. I was not able to press the brake down at all to start the car. I tried 3 times then let it sit for a few minutes and tried again. It finally started. The power doors wouldnt work and the battery meter was going crazy from zero to midway. Power was not consistent. It took a few minutes for my screen and reverse cam to come on. There was a loud pop like a power surge and the screen came on after that along with the radio. While driving on a city street the car completely died. This happened again further on my route home while turning car completely died and I had no control over the steering as well. I was not able to depress the brake to start it again for a few seconds. It finally started and the battery was running wonky the rest of the way home. The a/c was fading in and out as well. Car continues to have fluctuating battery power on startup.

12 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

We are on our second Pacifica after the first was bought back by Chrysler due to major electrical issues (vehicle would not start or function correctly, dealer couldn't fix it). Now on our second Pacifica we have had constant transmission issues. . . First transmission started slamming into gear (feels like you are being rear ended by another vehicle, this can be at slower speeds < 20 mph while going straight or turning), they reset computer, that didn't fix it, so then they replaced the valve body in the transmission (2 seperate shop trips). A couple months later it started slamming into gear again (slow speeds < 20, turning and going straight), so they replaced the transmission after putting us in a rental for another month, about 6 months later this transmission had the same exact issue, slamming into gear at low speeds (< 20, turning or going straight). So we are on our 2nd Pacifica and the 3rd transmission now and are still having the same issue as we initially had (slamming into gear like you are being rear ended at slow speeds < 20 going straight or turning)! there are serious issues with this transmission that Chrysler needs to resolve! this is not safe to drive the way it is, because you don't know the situation you will be driving in when it happens.

13 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Vehicle engine and electrical system shut down while driving 35 mph in traffic. Total looks of power steering also occurred. Our family with small children also were in the car. This could have been much worse if it occurred at highway speeds on a busier road. Once stopped the dash alerted us to shift to park to restart vehicle. We did but car would not start. No attempt to turn over at all. Put flashers on and parts of dash, uconnect screen and interior lights flashed also. Car has 10,000 miles only and has been relatively trouble free to this point. I see many like complaints on this website and in online forums. To date it seems reading feedback from others affected, even after multiple occurrences and trips to the dealership, Chrysler has not identified a root cause or been able to permanently resolve the issue. This is a huge safety issue and we will not drive this car again without a definite resolution.

14 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

With only 7300 miles on the odometer, as of this writing 11-21-17, my Pacifica has failed to start on 4 separate occassions. With each event, all the warning lights on the main and radio dash lit up and flashed on and off. Also, the wiper blades came on and stayed on, not being able to shut off with the designated switch. As well, numerous "warning windows" popped up on the center dash info screen. . . Service electronic stability, park brake unavailable, blind spot alert unavailable service required, service tire pressure system, park sense unavailable, service air bag system, warning bells constantly chiming, entire dash goes completely dark and radio turns off and on by itself. The last attempt to start, 11-20-17, after numerous times in an hours time, the engine did start only to shut down almost immediately. The vehicle has been towed to my local Chrysler dealership twice now and is still there as of this writing. On the first event when towed in, I was told that a service writer also could not attempt to start the vehicle, but when the service tech tried, it did start. I was told to come pick up my vehicle that there were no error codes found and my vehicle was operating normally. I really dread the day when my Pacifica dies while driving, as that apparantly has happened to many dozens of other 2017 Pacificas already, placing the occupants in extreme danger. I just read an article in the new york times with regards to this dangerous issue and I near the point of demanding that Chrysler buy back my vehicle. I do have multiple videos taken on my cell phone but do not have the ability to upload them just yet.

Purchased a brand new Chrysler Pacifica vehicle 3 wks ago on may 18 2017. We headed out on vacation on the 20th of may. May 21 was the first incident on the interstate in chicago we stalled in the middle of traffic for approximately 10 minutes. May 27 we pulled up to a stoplight and the engine stalled out on us that lasted approximately 3 minutes, the same day at a tollbooth we stalled out which lasted about 25 minutes before the car would start again we ended up calling for a towing service but the car we started and we canceled the tow service. May 30 we left the grocery store the screen switch to the app page and would not switch back, the brakes locked and we lost engine power. That lasted 20 mins before car would start. June 7 car would not start after coming out of the grocery store waited 20 minutes then tried again car started 30 seconds after the ignition button has been pressed by itself. June 11 car stalled out pulling into the driveway. Took less then a minute to restart this time. We have taken the car into the dealer and the could find nothing and could not replicate. We now have to drive back from PA to nd with a vehicle I am afraid to drive with 6 kids. I am so upset and disappointed in this Chrysler product.

Warrant of merchantability- implied warranty that states a vehicle will run like its supposed to run, applying to the basic functions of the car. The buyer must prove a defect was present at the time of purchase. ¿car did not start x2 at dealer and required a jump start- I was informed it was a result of being low on gas and having sat out in the hot sun. Uniform commercial code- dealer disclaimed a warrant of mechanic ability, giving the consumer the right to challenge the disclaimer using the federal uniform commercial (ucc). The ucc can be used to cancel the sale of a used car. Unfair and deceptive acts and practices (udap law) - these laws can be used even if the car is sold as is, as long as the dealer is guilty of a verbal deception or failure to disclose information about the vehicle. ¿ 2007 Chrysler Pacifica I purchased the car less than 1 month ago and have driven less than 2000 miles. I am extremely upset because I believe that heritage knowingly sold me an unsound car. The dealer is guilty of verbal deception and failure to verbally disclose information about the vehicle. ¿ this car was involved in an accident and I was not made aware of the severity of the accident or the issues the car had as a result. ¿ I have attempted to get the car serviced and repaired to little avail. The car continues to have serious mechanical issues( indicating a frame issue or drive train issue) I believe the dealer knowingly sold the car to me and purposely withheld the extent of damage the car had in the prior accident, as well as the cars improper basic functioning. The consumer protection act unfair trade practices: falsely represented the car as a safe, car without major defects, and no problems with any parts of the car- presented the car as being sound and able to adhere to basic functioning (battery issues, electrical issues, brake issues, drive train issues, involved a mvc) and did not disclose history of part.

Recurring starting issue when high humidity and heavy morning condensation are present, vehicle will not start, and power is lost to passenger side (windows, mirror, locks) and both front seats lose power. Have taken to dealership 4 times in 2 months over summer, some parts replaced, but problem still occurring afterwards, other times the vehicle would start by the time it was towed to dealership. Dealership not able to recreate problem, but mechanics agree that it is condensation related to causing a short somewhere. When condensation evaporates, vehicle will start just fine.

23 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. My wife and kids were at the store went in for five minutes came back out and the car would not start. By the way it was about 10 degrees out at the time. Thank god there was someone around to jump start the car. My wife finally got to where she was going and shut the car down and tried to start it immediately after and it would not start it would just click. Thirty minutes later she went out the car started. All weekend the car would start then the next time it would not. This has happened too many times to us we do not know if we are going to make where we need to go or not. This has happened ten to fifteen times to this vehicle.

25 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

1-my 2004 Pacifica will not start at times. Sometimes 2 weeks can go by without incident, then the car will not start until I hold my foot on the gas. The dealer claims that unless it happens while at their shop, they cannot do anything. 2- the drivers side mirror will change position and make a sound like gears trying to engage but cannot. Again, the dealer could not find a problem although it happens each time I use it. 3- I complained about the transmission being sluggish from a parked position until it passes first gear. They told me they could not find a problem. They told me I could pick up the car. I asked them to drive it. They now found the problem and claim the motor mount was broken. They said it happened because of a fender bender I was in. The fender bender occurred two months after purchasing the car and I have been driving it two years since that event without a problem. 4- my headliner keeps sagging where the headliner meets the moonroof. They have fixed it now three times. They said the manual tells them to use sticky velcro tape. I keeps happening.
