I'm out driving my 2000 Sahara, when I start getting a lot of horns blowing at me,I finally looked down and realized my turn signals were not flashing. I got it home, thinking it was a bulb.I turnened on the right side, walked around, both bulbs were lit. tried the left same thing. so I'm now thinking fuse. I removed the glove box, pulled the fuse. it was good.when I put the fuse back in,the signal started to blink,I had left it in left turn. thinking the fuse had got corroded.I pulled it and scraped it with a pocket knife.stuck it back in.no flash. I pulled it in and out several times, finally it started flashing. I tried moving the turn signal lever, they stopped flashing, and I couldn't get them to work again. so now I'm thinking flasher,as I've had them go bad in my GTO before, and it acted the same way.a new flasher cured it. so I looked for it in the fuse area, couldn't find it. my next thing was to check the forum. saw where it could be above the signal switch. I took the steering cover off, nothing above the the signal switch. now I'm lost, where is that thing at? I'm a little p.o'd at Chrysler, why hide it? it's pretty common for them to go bad after years of use.any one know where it's at? :surrender:

IIRC...Behind the steering wheel, you have to take the plastic housing off of the steering column and it will be on the top behind the multifunction switch.

Can you atleast Hear 1 Click when you put On the Signal?

Maybe Sit there and Click the Signals On & Off Manually so you can Listen around the Dash to try to Find where the Flasher is.

The flasher is mounted to the dash support under the steering column. Remove the bottom part of the dash and it should be right there on a bracket.

IT wasnt until 2001 that they made it part of the switch in the steering column area

This has a tilt wheel.I dropped the metal support cover under the column. I still don't see the flasher.I ordered a signal lever switch when I was told by a jeeper here that on the tilt wheel, the flasher was incorporated in to the switch.when it comes in,I'll install it,try to get it to flash and verify just where this thing is. I got most of the dash apart now.thanks every one for your help, this is just plain crazy, nothing I've read or seen matches my Jeep, guess I'd better add this Jeep has not been apart before,so some one has not moved it.

I found it! the diagram is right, I couldn't get it out of my head that the steering column wasn't involved. I saw cowl panel, I then remembered that English car makers refered to that area as the cowl. it's the metal bezel or support that is directly behind the instrument panel. on the lower right hand side.as mine was not working, except once in a while and then only once or twice.it took me a while to locate it. I had to pull the instrument panel, turn the ignition on and off ,push the signel swith up and down, and try to hear it.pretty rough for a guy who worked on jets for many years and has lost alot of hearing. finally I hear the thing and located it. now to my gripe... why couldn't Chrysler just put the thing by the fuse box? theres plenty of room for it. many thanks to every one who helped, don't buy the switch from Autozone,it's not the right one,has 5 spade connectors instead of 4 and will not work, may have to go to dealer to get one

Thanks for the Heads Up Sidebar78

Thanks for the Heads Up about the wrong flasher at Autozone. While I DO use them, I have found parts discrepancies on my various cars on numerous occasions. Everything from trunk lift struts on my Mercedes (I was told they MUST be right since that was the only number they showed. When I brought the OEMs in for the "Parts Pro" to see, I was told that Mercedes must have installed the wrong ones!) to a rattlecan of the Black PX8A paint for my '05 TJ (which they don't stock, but I was told "Black is Black"!- which, of course, it's not). Anyway, AZ is good for what they are good for.

one other thing, the replacement ones donot have the clip that allows you to fasten it back to the "cowl" panel, nor do they have groves that allow you to take the one from your old flasher and use it. for guys who only do correct factory replacement, you'll have to get one from the dealer or get a good one from a salvage yard.

Just what I was looking for ..... I too read on here that it was located at the top of the steering column ..... I got my replacement from Autozone and it did work but like Sidebar said, no bracket or grooves to put the old bracket onto the new , so I guess I will zip tie it up. THX guys ... :iamhappy:

Where is the blinker relay switch located?

Where is it Located? It really depends on which type of vehicle you drive, but on most models, you can find your turn signal relay inside the junction box or the fuse box with your other relays.

How do you know if a signal relay is bad?

Turn Signals Don't Work This is the most common symptom of a faulty turn signal relay. Once the relay is broken, the lights won't turn on with the switch. On some vehicles, the hazard lights also rely on the turn signal relay, so those lights might also cease to function.
