This Sunday, The Walking Dead season 11 returns to AMC with a brand new episode. The show had been off-screens for a lengthy hiatus since April and now it’s back to begin the final chapter in its legendary run.
If you’ve been watching, you’ll know that AMC ordered a longer final season to ensure that fans got to spend more time with their favorite TWD characters before it bowed out for good. They also took regular hiatuses to split the final season into three installments and prolong the show’s run for a little longer.
When season 11 took its most recent break back in April, there was plenty of speculation about when it would return, with June being an initial possibility because spin-off series Fear The Walking Dead would have completed its seventh season (after filling in in its parent show’s slot while it was on hiatus). However, at San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that the show’s final eight episodes would actually begin airing in October.

The last installment of The Walking Dead Season 11 will be airing on AMC on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT, starting with Episode 17 on October 2. The final part will culminate in the series finale on November 20.
