Additionally, while some religions rely on historical data or conversations, others and more indigenous groups such as the Maoris, Hawaiians, or Native Americans rely on the wisdom and philosophies of nature.

Yet no matter where the appreciation is derived, each contributes the fabric of life here on Earth.

Buddhist ‘Thank You’ Messages

In Buddhism, gratitude is often an internal manifestation before it is an external one. The following phrases from Buddha express that sentiment, even if they do not explicitly say the words, 'thank you.'

• "Friendship is the only cure for hatred, the only guarantee of peace."
• "We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves."
• "With our thoughts, we make the world."
• "Be where you are, otherwise, you will miss your life."
• "Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot at least, we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful."

Christian ‘Thank You’ Messages

The Christian sacred text is comprised of the New and the Old Testaments in the Bible. Therein, 66 books describe life before and during the time of Jesus—God's son.

• "I always thank God for you because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus." — Corinthians 1:4
• "There is no fear in love: Perfect love casts out fear." — 1 John 4:18

Hindu ‘Thank You’ Messages

There are four sacred texts called the Vedas in Hinduism. They are the Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva.

Within them, they are divided into Samhita, Brahmana, Aranyaka, and the Upanishads. When someone says thank you with a Hindu prayer, they are also coming from a place of generosity.

• "Gratitude is not only the greatest of all virtues but the parent of all others." 
• "Life, death, and rebirth are inevitable." 
• "Where there is joy, there is creation. Where there is no joy, there is no creation: know the nature of joy." 
• "Veda means knowledge and the Vedas are really an ocean of knowledge." 
• "He who sees all beings in his Self and his Self in all beings, he never suffers; because when he sees all creatures within his true Self, then jealousy, grief, and hatred vanish."
• "There is enough in the world for everyone's need; there is not enough for everyone's greed." 
• "May God protect us, grant us wisdom's fruit; may we gain energy to know the Truth; may our intellects grow clear and bright; may we cherish no ill feelings toward anyone. Om, peace, peace, peace be unto all." 
• "As is your will, so is your thought; as is your thought, so is your deed; as is your deed, so is your life."

Jewish ‘Thank You’ Messages

Although the Talmud is not a sacred text, it is the gathering of rabbis discussing the meaning of the Torah that can make it truly worthwhile. Some of the quotes are attributed directly to certain Rabbis.

• "Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, 'Grow. Grow.'"

• "What have you done for me lately is the ingrate's question." — Rabbi Joseph Telushkin

Muslim ‘Thank You’ Messages

The Quran is the holy text of Islam. According to Muslims, the angel Gabriel revealed the word of (God) Allah to Muhammed, their prophet. The quotes below are from that text.

Taoist ‘Thank You’ Messages

Laozi, or Lao Tzu, was the master and founder/philosopher of Taoism. It is based on the natural order of things rather than the conventions of society. The following quotes are his.

Gratitude is universal among all religions and beliefs. By sharing it with others, the legacy of those who came before us continues.
