It is rare to have a trip canceled due to weather. However, if Capt Greg feels that the weather poses a threat to the safety of our passengers or the vessel, we will cancel and make every effort contact you, via email, text and phone calls. We know that many of you travel quite some distance to get to us and we do monitor the weather very carefully so that we can make the most informed decisions. Please be aware that due to the complexity of weather and its effects on the sea conditions in the areas we fish, it is often unlikely that a weather-related cancellation can be made before the actual day of departure.
Unless the National Hurricane Center has an official track on a specific storm that will effect your trip, please don’t call or email the office. The office will contact you if the Captain has cause to believe that the safety of your trip will be compromised by weather.
PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER SO WE CAN CONTACT WHEN YOUR DRIVING DOWN TO THE BOAT IF WE NEED TO CANCEL!

. New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION .
DISCUSSION. Issued at 1045 AM EST Thu Nov 10 2022 Tropical Storm Nicole is nearing the west Florida coastline north of Tampa, with fresh (17-21 kts) west to southwest breezes surging through the Keys into the trailing flank of Nicole. Numerous shallow showers are noted on the KBYX radar, formed within the moist and weakly cyclonic SFC-800 mb layer sampled by the 12Z KKEY RAOB. As the day progresses, the lower tropospheric flow will become more southwesterly and confluent, losing some of the cyclonic curvature. The MIMIC TPW loops indicate a little drier air to our southwest, but not so dry to preclude thunderstorms. Additionally, a deformed short wave is lumbering northeast, just to the north of the Yucatan Channel, which may help destabilize the mid-upper level layers where lapse rates do not support deep convection at the moment. There is still a chance for some thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, although the overall rain chances for the island chain will decrease over the next-24 hours. No changes are needed or planned.
MARINE. Issued at 1045 AM EST Thu Nov 10 2022 A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for most of the coastal waters of the Florida Keys due to southwest to west winds as high as 20 knots, especially for the waters east of Craig Key, and lingering seas greater than 7 feet. From synopsis, diminished southwest to west breezes are expected today, with the diminishing trend continuing into Friday. Light breezes will prevail Saturday and Saturday night across the Keys. Breezes will turn back to the north on Sunday as a weak cold front bleeds into the Keys.
AVIATION. (15Z TAFS) Issued at 1045 AM EST Thu Nov 10 2022
VFRconditions will start to prevail as shower activity and cloud cover diminishes into this afternoon. Periods of VCSH will continue on until then along with near surface winds out of the west to southwest near 10 knots with occasional wind gusts near 20 knots.
