Showtime’s legal drama Your Honor will be back for its second — and, according to star Bryan Cranston, final — season before the year is through.
Season 2 will make its linear debut on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 9/8c, TVLine has learned. The premiere episode, however, will be available two days earlier (on Friday, Dec. 9) on streaming and on demand for all Showtime subscribers.
Originally conceived as a limited series, Your Honor stars Cranston as Michael Desiato, a respected New Orleans judge whose teenage son, Adam (Truth Be Told‘s Hunter Doohan), is involved in a hit-and-run that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices. In July, Cranston told Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that Season 2 would be Your Honor‘s last; Showtime has not formally confirmed Cranston’s comments.
As previously reported, Rosie Perez (The Flight Attendant) has joined the sophomore run in a guest-starring capacity, playing Olivia Delmont, a charismatic assistant U.S. Attorney who must manipulate and motivate an unwilling asset in order to bring down a crime organization in New Orleans. She joins returning cast members Cranston, Hope Davis, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Margo Martindale, Amy Landecker and newly minted series regulars Lilli Kay, Keith Machekanyanga, Andrene Ward-Hammond, Jimi Stanton and Benjamin Flores Jr.

"I am preparing for the second and last season of Your Honor, which is a limited series that I did for Showtime," the actor revealed on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast. "As they tell me, it got higher ratings than any other series they've ever had — and so, one more season of that."
Reps for Showtime did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.
The legal drama stars Cranston in his first post-Breaking Bad series regular role as Michael Desiato, a respected judge in New Orleans who helps his teen son cover up a fatal hit-and-run. The series, based on the Israeli drama Kvodo, became Showtime's most-watched debut season ever.

The first season of Your Honor was written and produced by Peter Moffat, who exited the series ahead of season 2. David Manson was originally going to step in as showrunner to replace Moffat but also left the series. Joey Hartstone, a writer on the first season, has officially taken over the role for season 2.
"I think my comedy Malcolm in the Middle set the bar high on a situation comedy, and then the bar is equally high on the drama side with Breaking Bad, so that's why it took so long for me to want to commit to something of more than just one appearance in a show," Cranston previously told EW. "It had to be the right thing, and I think Your Honor is the right thing."

Showtime’s Your Honor will end after its upcoming season, series star Bryan Cranston said today in an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. Filming on Season 2 has just started, with Joey Hartstone, who was a writer on Season 1, as new showrunner, Deadline has learned. Additionally, I hear Keith Machekanyanga, who recurred heavily as Lil Mo in the first installment, has been promoted to series regular for Season 2.
Your Honor originated as a limited series but, following its breakout ratings success, it was renewed for a 10-episode second season last year. Peter Moffat, who served as writer, executive producer and showrunner of the first season, opted not to return because he lives in the UK and wanted to stay close to family. David Manson was then brought on as showrunner, he subsequently also left and was succeeded by Hartstone this past spring.

Showtime had no comment on Cranston’s comments.

Season 1, which was based on the Israeli series Kvodo created by Ron Ninio and Shlomo Mashiach, became the most-watched debut season on Showtime ever with 6.6 million weekly viewers.

Cranston and James Degus executive produce for Moonshot Entertainment. Rob Golenberg, Alon Aranya, Ninio, Mashiach, Ram Landes, Ron Eilon and Danna Stern also serve as executive producers.
Machekanyanga recently guest starred in the two-episode backdoor pilot of The Rookie: Fed and recurred in season 3 of Netflix’s Dear White People. He is repped by Principal Entertainment LA and A3.
Hartstone also served as a writer-producer on another KingSize/CBS Studios series, The Good Fight.
