Emails are essential to our daily lives, and we receive them all the time. Most of the critical stuff is sent to us through an email, such as payment confirmations, statements, and much more. However, there are times when the email does not appear in the Inbox and is instead sent to the Junk folder. If you’re on iPhone and are currently facing this issue, continue reading below as we will explain how to stop emails from going to Junk on iPhone.
To stop emails from going to Junk on iPhone, you need to go to the Junk or Spam folder in the Mail app and manually send the email to your Inbox. From this point onward, all the emails from that sender will be sent to your Inbox instead of the Junk folder.
The Junk or Spam folder in the Mail app is there for a reason. It might sometimes be annoying, but it is there to protect you from unwanted and spam emails. If the Mail app thinks that an email is suspicious and isn’t something that is going to benefit you, it sends it directly to the Junk folder. It saves you from the hassle of manually checking the email’s authenticity.
Why an Email Gets Sent to Junk on iPhone
Sometimes, the Mail app goes overboard and sends a regular email to the Junk folder instead of the Inbox. This happens because of a couple of reasons, which are mentioned below.
Spam Emails
The Inbox of every email user is always filled with multiple spam emails. These emails are sent in bulk by people who are either advertising their product or are trying to scam you. Such emails ask you to click on a particular link or send information on a specific email in return for a reward. In reality, they are just trying to scam you. Thankfully, the Mail app can detect such emails and send them directly to the Junk or Spam folder.
Email Contains a Lot of Links
There are times when you receive an email with a lot of links in it. In most cases, these emails are also sent to you by scammers. If the Mail app detects many links in an email, it wastes no time sending them to the Junk or Spam folder.
Dangerous IP Address
If an email is being sent to you by an IP address that is not in the good books of the internet, it will go straight to the Junk or Spam folder. ISPs usually block shady IP addresses, and if they try to send an email to someone, the email either does not get delivered or never makes its way to the receiver’s Inbox.
Inappropriate Content
If the email being sent to you contains inappropriate content, such as unethical pictures or videos, the Mail app will not allow it to reach the Inbox and will store it inside the Junk or Spam folder.
Now, there are times when a regular email gets marked as either spam or inappropriate, and it gets sent to the Junk or Spam folder instead of the Inbox. This is a mistake made by the Mail app, but there is a way to prevent this from happening. To stop emails from going to Junk on your iPhone, follow the below steps.
- Open the Mail app on your iPhone.
- Tap your account icon in the top-left corner.
- From the list of options on your screen, tap “Junk“. Sometimes, you might see a “Spam” folder instead of “Junk“.
- Browse through the emails and find the one accidentally sent to this folder.
- Swipe left on the email and tap “More“.
- Select “Move Email“.
- Select the folder where you want the email to be moved. In most cases, it will be “Inbox“.
After successfully following the abovementioned steps, you will move the email to your Inbox. Furthermore, in the future, all the emails you will receive from that specific sender will be sent to your Inbox instead of the Junk or Spam folder.
Conclusion
This was everything you needed to know about stopping emails from going to Junk on iPhone. As you can see, the process is pretty simple and time-consuming. While it is annoying to see essential emails placed inside the Junk folder, there isn’t anything you can do about it except manually move them to the Inbox.
