While the Mega Millions jackpot for Friday, 4 November is a far cry from the $1 billion reached in July, its no chump change either. But if a lucky person matches all six numbers, today’s winner will walk away with a cool $119 million.

The last jackpot that was more than $1 billion was won in Chicago in July, 2022 and was worth 1.33 billion. The Mega Millions record jackpot was in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2018 and totalled $1.54 billion, the world’s largest lottery prize won on a single ticket.
All eyes are on the Powerball prize this week
While the $119 million Mega Million jackpot is nothing to sneeze at, the entire country is focused on the Powerball $1.6 billion drawing that will be held on Saturday night. Current estimates suggest that it will be the world’s largest-ever lottery jackpot.

- July 29, 2022 - $1.337 billion ($780.5 million cash) won by an anonymous partnership with a ticket purchased in Des Plaines, Ill.
- April 15, 2022 - $20 million ($11.9 million cash) won by an anonymous trust with a ticket purchased in Pegram, Tenn.
- April 12, 2022 - $110 million ($66.9 million cash) won by a Minnesota couple with a ticket purchased in Ramsey, Minn.
- March 8, 2022 - $128 million ($85.8 million cash) won by Herman Kahan of Brooklyn, N.Y.
- January 28, 2022 - $426 million ($292.9 million cash) won by Kristine Wellenstein with a ticket purchased in Woodland Hills, Calif.
